md-11 cold and dark start up?

Featured Replies

Hello,I am not sure if this topic has been covered:Is there a cold and dark start up tutorial for the md-11?Thanks,Christos

I assume you mean how to preflight and startup the aircraft? The checklist is very thorough, and going though it is the best way to learn where everything is. First time will take awhile, but it is worth it. Nice thing about the MD11 is the automation, pretty much preflight is making sure everything is in the automatic mode.

Search "PMDG MD-11" on youtube. One of the first videos will be a cold and dark startup of the engines.

Dan,Which checklist do you mean?I know the standard checklists folder of the MD-11, cockpit preparation, taxiing, before take off etc.But is there another ckecklist guiding you step by step from a dark and cold situation? I mean starting with batteries, APU etc?Where is it?Thanks Christos

Take a look at the AOM (Normal Procedures). It reads like a checklist preflight, before start, etc but it goes into a lot more detail. You might have to look through the manual a couple of times to reference some of the systems or tests but the average user should be able to go from cold and dark to flight with no issues.

Any word on the promised "Tutorial 2"...which was supposed to deal with this?
