September 25, 200916 yr Finally I'm convinced to purchase one of the apparently great AS products, but can't decide between AS 6.5/ASG and ASA. 6.5/ASG is tempting, because of the graphics included, ASA because of the many new features (e, g, snapshot etc.)I'm currently still using Chris' low def clouds and wonder if there are also some lower res and performance friendly but better looking cloud sets are included in ASG. If not, I think I
September 25, 200916 yr I do see some of the improvements others report here with ASA...for me the biggest problem is that the winds seem never to be close to what ASA says they should be, where in AS6.5 thy're right on the money. ASA also does something different in the way it writes the weather .dat file, so my FSBuild flight plans don't import the winds correctly from ASA like they do with AS 6.5.Cloud popping is another thing that ASA seems to instigate much more, so having those better looking cloud layers appearing and disappearing in front of me doesn't result in a net improvement.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
September 29, 200916 yr Author Thank you to everybody, who responded!I have finally bought and installed AS6.5 over the weekend. Planning to upgrade to ASA in the future (Jim you did a good sales job with your tip resulting innow probably selling 2 programmes :( )All I can say is WOW!Originally I had planned to install the software, file a flightplan and go flying. But this programme offers so much to explore, to tweak, to play around, so many eye candies that I had not much time for serious flying. All I did so far was slewing around and doing scenic flights for immersion - just great!Cheers Wolfgang
September 29, 200916 yr All I can say is WOW!Yes, Wolfgang, it is hard to find a better matched word.ActiveSky is one of the few addons (similarly to recently discussed FSUIPC) that every serious simmer MUST have. There is no doubt about that. I also haven't upgraded to ASA yet (once it was released I even started an inquiry topic on that), but one day I will for sure.
