FSX Traffic

Featured Replies

Hi All - Iv seen loads of traffic addons knocking about - Ultimate Traffic 2, My Traffic, Traffic X, etc... My question is, surely at the end of the day, they do the same thing? What does one addon do that default traffic doesnt?Iv used My Traffic in the past, but that hugely whacked up the loading times for FSX, even though i seemed to get higher framerates with the traffic sliders high. Is this this to be expected with all addons? Thanks for your help.

They do all do the same thing - add traffic. What you pay for is gimmicks and packaging. I have always been a strong believer in never paying for AI. You can simply add it via free packages like World Of AI which just needs several clicks and it's in. Save your money and put it towards some nice scenery.

Hi Adrian,I have all the payware AI programs you mentioned. The one I like the best is UT2. It doesn't cause the long load times you are concerned about and it gives me the ability to easily add or delete AI aircraft. I have deleted all the default FSX aircraft from the AI fleet. The frame rates are better than default and seem to be as good as the other programs. Hope this helps a little.

World of Ai works just fine in FSX. However, just be sure to not use ANY of Aerosofts sceneries. In their sceneries you have to turn off aircraft shadows inorder to be able to see any FS9 model based AI. But in all other sceneries aswell as all default sceneries you can see all Ai even with aircraft shadows turned on. :(

That's impressive Staffan. You only fly in FS2004 and still got all of the Aerosoft FSX sceneries :(

Not quite.I was just helping out someone to install and tweak FSX for several days. :( And the problem with most Aerosoft FSX sceneries is very well known. Their scenery developers needs to do their homework and study the SDK much better. :(Here you can clearly see that FS9 based models (World of AI) really do work in FSX default scenery with shadows turned on, but no way that will work in Aerosoft sceneries.Image1.jpg

They have a patch now for their Heathrow (EGLL)

Guess what.........I got a responce from Shaun on the Aerosoft forum, that they take this problem seriously, and they will resolve it in due time. :(

I got UT2 on your recommendation - Have to say, it is very good. More traffic, better all-round performance, live scheduled flights. Like it!

Does UT2 allow for excluding default AI jetliners while keeping AI GA traffic in FSX?
Sure, just reduce the airline traffic in FSX to 0%, and the GA percentage to what ever you want.UT2 has its own sliders independant of the FSX ones. For example, you set both FSX sliders to 0%, stopping FSX generating any traffic. Then set the UT2 sliders to what ever you want.Works totally how you want it to.

UT2 is actually pretty good, simply because I can turn on the AI on the fly or turn it off. The frame rate is very good as well vs world of AI aircraft. Worth the money imo simply because of that.Though, I wish someone would make an AI Traffic program that uses simconnect or something with multiplayer to make traffic more believable and make them actually follow real STAR/SIDs, real approaches, with more believable ATC, go arounds, etc. I know someone experimented with this before, but haven't heard about it for years. Offload all the AI stuff onto another machine... Oh well, maybe someday in the future.

Thanks Adrian. Seems as I really should look into it even though I do not have any favorite aircraft in FSX yet (just the PMDG Beech 1900 that I ported over) though I still need to install the MAAM DC3 and B-25 in it.Mike

My understanding is that UT2 does use simconnect. I've asked a few times on different forums (UT2 for example) whether UT can be loaded on a networked computer. I don't think I have received an answer yet. Can it even be assigned to a different core? I don't know.I remember reading that UT2 was causing some problems because it would inject massive amounts of traffic while on approach. Did that get fixed? Have you flown in to a major hub yet?I was a big fan of the UT for FS9 but I slowly migrated to freeware because of the updated models and flight plans. Can't decide what to do with FSX. My understanding is that WofAI is missing a few models right now because developers have withdrawn their work.

1 - Fact - UT2 has best looking AI models2 - Fact - UT2 traffic gets reset when you enter FSX menu, if you access fsx menu just before you start to taxi, traffic gets reset , you gona be the only plane taxing at that airport for some time, that is a total failure in UT2.3 - FAct - If your PC is not above [email protected], you likely to have very strong full stop jitters as you approach busy airports, even with UT2 traffic sliders down to 30%, and zero FSX defualt traffic.4 - Fact - UT2 Has got very good representation of which airlines you find at which airports, worldwide.Of all the Goods and Bads of UT2 the two that made me delete it from my system are1 - Traffic is reset when you enter sfx menu2 - Major Jitters when approaching busy airports. So i am back to using TrafficX, TrafficX AI models arent as good looking, but the traffic does not get reset when you access fsx menu, and landing at busy airport is not a slide show.
