737 800/900 Issues and requests

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,I've just been doing a search of around 10 pages to try and find some answers to my questions / queries but I couldn't find any.I'm using the Aerosoft published PMDG 737-800/900 addon, along with the Aerosoft published 747-400.I don't have any issues or problems with the 744.However, what I would like to know, is if it is at all possible to install the 737 updates with just the 737-800/900 series? - I appreciate that it isn't the complete NG package, but I don't have the sufficient funds and/ or wants for the previous NG version anyway. - I prefer realism and not many operators fly the -700/600, when compared to the 800.Therefore, I don't fancy spending $50 on something I'll never use, just for the updates! Surely there's a way of updating the latest 737 version, without buying the predeceasing version? Also, two things I've noticed:The FMC buttons do not operate as expected; If I click '0' where I would in the 744, it comes out with '8'. In the same way that if I click '5' in the same place as I would with the 744, it comes out with '2'.One other thing I've noticed, which just happened last night, was that it exceeded the altitude entered in both the FMC and ALT window in the MCP. - I set it to FL260, when I came back after 5-10 minutes, it was @ FL310 and climbing.I was on VNAV and both FL260 was set in the FMC and ALT window, so I've no idea what happened there! - Someone also pointed this out earlier, but they were using V/S.Just so you know I'm using version 1.1 - I'd like to update but as previously stated, I can't!!!Kelvin C-J,Vatsim ID: 1006702.P.S please excuse the display name, I made it when I was 12!!

Any updates should be on the Aerosoft support pages - just login and look under the software. You might need to register it first for it to show up though.John Ellison

Hi John,Thanks for the information. The direct download of the 744 update from PMDG worked, but the 737 update did not. - Because I didn't have the -600/700 installed.I'll try what you said anyway.Thanks.Kelvin C-J

The last update for the 737-600/700 came out a long time ago, current version is 1.3 here: http://www.precisionmanuals.com/priv/pages/down/updates.htmlIt needs ver 1.2. If you are registered with Aerosoft you can get updates from them I believe. The FMC works in 4:3 aspect ratios, either change your screen resolution or drag and stretch your FMC to allow the digit keys to work (tip: you can also use a keyboard). More info here: http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/PMDG_...he_correct_keysBusted altitude in climb if VNAV is correctly set up is unusual. A screen shot would be useful. Please sign with your full name in this forum.

Hi Dan,I know about the last update for the 600/700 but my problem is that I can't install ANY 800/900 updates as don't have the 'base' pack installed. - I would like to know if there is a way around this?Perhaps make a 'fake' folder of the -600 and -700 by putting the 800/900 stuff in it, but using the 600/700 name as the directory?I did look on the Aerosoft support area, this is all I got:737d.th.jpgAlso, I'll try recreate the scenairo and take a screenshot for you. - Here's my flightplan from the first time it happened: http://www.vataware.com/flight.cfm?id=4332705 - If you go down to the altitude graph, after it passes FL260, the climb shallows, yet it continues to climb and only when I made it descent by V/S, did it return to and cruise @ FL260.Sorry about my name issues, I thought 'Kelvin C-J' would have been enough; some others just have their surnames as initals and I thought if you were really that bothered about finding out my surname you could look it up on vataware?I'll change it now though.Kelvin Chilvers-JonesIf you can't read what it says.. I thought it would be bigger than that, it simply says:Support for:No Winglets on Hapag-Lloyd Livery2D Panel not showing in 600/700^ Clearly, no updates from them! - Looks like I'll need the PMDG updates but I've no idea how to 'trick' them into thinking I've the 600/700 installed.

Hi Guys,The 800-900 CD contains the latest files for this series, the model update shown on the CD refers to the update for the 600-700 series to enable a Virtual Cockpit to be used and not just the 2D panels. You have the latest version on the CD.Norman Bowman

Hi Norman, you say it's the latest version? The installer I used said 1.1 - the latest is 1.3?I know what you're saying about the 600/700, but I fly from the 2d anyway so I don't care about the VC! I'd just like to get to V 1.3!! And I can't do that because version 1.2 needs to be installed, but I can't install version 1.2 because I don't have the 600/700!!Rather annoying!Kelvin Chilvers-Jones

Kelvin,I purchased the 800/900 on CD.I had the same questions about model update you posted here.I learned the stand alone 800/900 on CD came fully updated.Load FS9, PMDG 800 and then go to top menu item PMDG and click on "about".It will list all 4 models (600/700/800/900) in the service update dated 2004.PMDG-vesion.jpg

Hi Kelvin,Dont be misled by the versionn codes used on some Aerosft products .That code refers to their particular release and does not always tie in with the codes PMDG use on the products bought direct from them.We all found out the hard way!Norman Bowman

Either the aircraft cfg or readme may have your pmdg version number; at least the download version does.

I believe this is the latest version. I have the CD version loaded on one of my systems and I don't see any of the earlier version issues. I will try to check a few file dates when I get home tonight.
