Looking at the specs makes me want to ask something I've always wondered. Many business jets have ceilings at or near 51K ft. How often do the business jets fly at such altitudes? The highest I've flown is at IRL FL 410 in a 767, so I imagine there's advantages to flying higher in terms of traffic avoidance. But how often are such altitudes achieved in the real world?
Actually, FL510 isn't used all that often, as typically that altitude may only be achieved after burning off about half the fuel load, and even then they "slink up" to that height at around 100 fpm or thereabouts... :(

For the life of me I am unable to get the panel to work. I have attempted to extract the files (Gauges and Effects) directly to their respective folders, and still no go. Any help would be great. Everything with the aircraft looks great, just not gauges. Thanks in advance

I hope you didn't un-CAB the gauge .CAB files! That would make a real mess... :( To install this project, simply un-zip the entire file to a \Temp folder. You should see the following files in the new Global Express FSX Build Folder:
Directory of C:\Temp\Global Express FSX Build Folder10/23/2009 07:53 AM <DIR> Bombardier Global Express XRS10/24/2009 02:25 PM <DIR> Effects11/02/2009 03:49 PM <DIR> Gauges10/16/2009 04:09 PM 639 file_id.diz10/24/2009 02:55 PM 7,723 GlobalExpXRS.gif10/24/2009 02:55 PM 18,960 GlobalExpXRS.png10/24/2009 02:31 PM 2,323 Installation.txt10/16/2009 03:34 PM 150,271 thumbnail.jpg
In the \Gauges folder you will find the following files, which you will simply Move (or Copy/Paste) to your FSX\Gauges folder:
10/10/2009 03:31 PM 12,913 New_Icons.CAB10/09/2009 07:04 PM 71,796 XRS_Chrono_Clock.CAB10/09/2009 07:04 PM 43,689 XRS_Digital_Clock.CAB10/09/2009 07:04 PM 160,962 XRS_EngineFire_Panel.CAB10/22/2009 05:22 PM 1,885,351 XRS_Panel.CAB10/12/2009 04:47 PM 874,855 XRS_Primus.CAB
In the \Effects folder you will find the following two files, which you will simply Move (or Copy/Paste) to your FSX\Effects folder:
fx_land_glx.fxfx_taxi_glx.fx
After you have verified that the Global Express XRS is now loading and displaying the panel, you can then delete the Global Express FSX Build Folder.

NO! There's no need to take such drastic action!Simply open your Windows Explorer, and navigate to the FSX\Gauges folder.Right-click in the right window, and select "Sort By -> Type" to display the files sorted by their extension. The only type of files that SHOULD be in that folder are .gau and .cab files.Simply select and delete all .bmp and .xml files from that folder.

Unfortunately, Garett Smith's FMS was only ever uploaded here to AVSIM, so until the Library is fixed... :(
You might be able to get it directly from him. He hangs around the Gotbush forums.http://gotbush.org/

Cheers, ive tried that one, its OK, this one for FSX looks promising though, shame theres no payware BD700 seen as tho due to legal reasons we cant have Gulfstreams, the Global Express is the next best thing

In reply to the question of an FS9 version, the answer is no. Most of what makes this freeware release as nice as it is would be lost during the "downconvert" process. Aside from which the entire gauge system would have to be re-scripted, since it uses the FSX XML schema and syntax, which is NOT backwards compatible... :(
