November 24, 200916 yr Hi All,At some FS9 airports there's a lot of AI ground traffic driving around and they all make the default AI Cessna sounds because they are defined as AI aircraft. Everything works OK and the airports are a lot more lively but all those "Cessnas" buzzing around you make a lot of unrealistic noise, quite often even drowning out your ATC instructions when they pass near your user aircraft. Is there any way of killing their sounds ?Hans

If so, I suggest having a look at the following thread:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...=traffic+soundsCheers,Geoff
November 24, 200916 yr I can't recommend strongly enough FSHotSFX - it creates proper AI aircarft sounds for all AI aircraft, from props to jets. Reverse thrusters sound out across the airport as AI a/c land and there are many customisable features (full control over volume is just one) and a lot of other miscellaneous sounds included too. I wouldn't want to fly without it. It's not freeware (you'll find it easily in a Google search) but worth every penny/cent...Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 24, 200916 yr Author Hey Guys,Thanks for your prompt reactions ....... but....... I think I wasn't clear enough in formulating my original question, so here goes again.I meant all kinds of dynamic AI ground vehicles, mostly driving around airport aprons, like fuel trucks, passenger busses, tractors, follow me cars, etc. Technically speaking in FS9 terms these vehicles are defined as AI aircraft with their own texture, model, air and aircraft.cfg files but are prevented from flying by their low speeds and weight etc. They follow separate taxiways and use their own parking positions defined in a separate Afcad file. Such a separate Afcad file is normally geographicaly positioned on top of a real airport's Afcad file or in any case very near it and the vehicles themselves are kept activated by their own "flight plans", usually stored in a specific traffic.bgl file within the airport's own active scenery folder.(Re)moving the default AI sound files as proposed by David, will inadvertedly kill ALL AI aircraft sounds including those of the vehicles, but that was not what I was after. An e.g. AI passenger bus, following it's own specific "taxiway" around an airport is in fact defined as a special kind of non flying AI Cessna with an "engine_type=0" entry in it's aircraft.cfg file's [GeneralEngineData] section and it's this entry which causes the AI Cessna sounds. Obviously this engine type can be edited to produce other sounds but my problem is that a "No Sound option" does not seem to exist....... hence my original question. Removing the whole "Engine_type = 0" entry doesn't help either because then the default Cessna sounds are produced anyway.I hope one of you has a solution because even an AI bicycle will produce AI Cessna sounds in this way.Hans
November 24, 200916 yr If I understand correctly the AI sound is assigned according to engine type. No engine type defaults to Cessna. So, as a example, Airport Bus ( grounded AI ) choices are jet, turboprop or prop, even 'no sound' is not an option, thank you very much MS! I know this isn't what you wanted to hear ( no pun ) but .........! Best regards,Mel

I have never seen the things you describe in Flight Simulator 2004. Making ground vehicles as AI is not the proper way to animate them. That is why you are getting unwanted sound effects, I'm afraid.
