Featured Replies

JimI don't know if this would be out of line or not.I'm looking for someone to do a couple of repaints for me as I just cann't seem to get my head around the paint program.I work for a company that one of the owners flys a RW Mooney. We have often joked about a company fleet with the company colors. (gray and maroon)I do not fly for real but have FSX and have been flying the Caranado Mooney and now have the PMDG JS41I'm looking to have both aircraft and the default 172 painted in the company colors. I would also like to have the Mooney have the registration number from the RW Mooney that my owner has.Can you or someone you know be able to help me out.If you want you can send me a email at chuck(at)crsfamily(dot)comThanks in advanceEveryone have a great day and go flying.Chuck Steward

Hi BernieWell I managed to do what I think you were after, so if the pic below is the one then this is the download link..http://www.filefront.com/15032771/JazzG_01.zipAs usual if you have any problems, suggestions or requests regarding the repaint, as usual don't hesitate to get in touch.@ GaryIf you want I could redo the paint scheme to Continental Connection, the one thing I need you to answer is do you want it with or without the engine nacelles painted, as some show painted nacelles and some are just the same as the wing group colour.Jim Hodkinson
Hi Jim,That is absolutely incredible work. Is it possible to get the wings, nacelle's and horizontal stab white? Is there a reason why the logo lights will not light up the tail? Not sure if it's a code problem. Thanks!Bernie

Hi BernieNo a problem with getting the wings, nacelle's and horizontal stab changed to white, as for the logo light, you know I never checked that one, I

Jim, thanks for your fantastic work. I enjoy your repaints immensely! If you are ever free to do one more, some Asians would be great: JA8591 on airliners.net (I realize its a J31) for example ;)

Hi BernieNo a problem with getting the wings, nacelle's and horizontal stab changed to white, as for the logo light, you know I never checked that one, I'll have a look and see what the problem is but it may be tomorrow as unfortunately I have some boring real world stuff to take care of today, but I will get back to you with the new files.Just as an aside, I was looking at the tail logo, and is it me or could it do with being a little bit on the lighter side to match the JAZZ logo colour, what do you think, because as I will have the files open for the MKII version I could modify the tail logo while I updating the other parts.Take care, and have fun.Jim Hodkinson
I'm not so sure the logo light problem is on your side. I checked the other paints that are downloadable from PMDG and on one aircraft only the top of the tail is lit (ie 4 logo lights / 2 on top of stab and 2 on bottom)on others there is no light at all. The primer painted stock paint and eastern paints work fine. I only did a quick check so not sure which ones are not working but I can go through them all if that will help. With the Jazz paint scheme which looks awesome by the way, only the bottom left side is lit and it looks like the light might be aimed too low. I have to go to work so if you need more info I can look at it closer. I did make a post last night regarding the log lights. Thanks a bunch,Bernie

hmm could that be, that it has something to do with the alphachannel? i am a complete noob about alphachannels - i know that they are for the gloss effect on the planesurface. Probably the alphachannel is also responsible for the lighting effect on the tail. i'm currently doing some reallife stuff (a course about basic photoshop editing *boooring*) but i'll check that - could not be so hard to figure out if the alphachannel is responsible for that. Everyone who can tell me that it isn't - do so. i have no real clue :) all the best, alex

Any chance getting Sky Express (Greece) livery? Pictures on google are pretty good.

that sky express livery looks cool indeed. and as a precise reader of this board i remember that someone is working on that and had a slight issue. Probably he is also a frequent user of this board Here is the thread about it: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=267220Maybe he would share his work to us :) br, alex

Hi, does any one know if there's a Highland Airways repaint knocking around? I've searched but come up empty so if any one could point me to one I'd be much appreciated. Thanks,Ian

Found, thanks anyway :( Ian

Hi Jim,I did check the other JS41 airplane paint schemes and the logo lights do work on them. I was probably tired when I checked them the first time. The Jazz one unfortunately is not working correctly.Bernie

Hi allApologies for the delay in getting back to you short hospital visit, but to business.A couple of thing that I have found out are..Flipping then merging (or flattening) the image and saving as a .DDS saves an Alpha channel in an unflipped state, so I have used DXTBMP to export an Alpha channel from a PMDG repaint, and then imported the Alpha channel using DXTBMP and saved as .DDS, but we are not finished yet, this image can be opened using the FSX SDK ACES Image Tool but the PMDG ones can

Hi allApologies for the delay in getting back to you short hospital visit, but to business.A couple of thing that I have found out are..Flipping then merging (or flattening) the image and saving as a .DDS saves an Alpha channel in an unflipped state, so I have used DXTBMP to export an Alpha channel from a PMDG repaint, and then imported the Alpha channel using DXTBMP and saved as .DDS, but we are not finished yet, this image can be opened using the FSX SDK ACES Image Tool but the PMDG ones can't, so I then reopened the image with Photoshop and again saved as ,DDS and now this image can't be opened with the ACES Image Tool, all done you might think. Not quite, during my experiments I also came across an odd phenomenon, none of the J41's when first loaded in a night time setting (at least on my system) have a logo light, but if you quit the flight and change to another J41 and press fly now you have logo lights, now if you quit and reselect you original J41 and press fly now would you believe it to now has logo lights, I have no idea why this should happen, and it may be just on my system so I would like someone to try and confirm or indeed deny that they to get the same results.Aside from that I have now made a new Jazz texture (link Below) with a lighter wing texture and maple leaf logo (I thought it looked a lot darker than the Jazz logo) and I was hoping that you could just give her a test flight to see what you make of her now, both with and without changing airframes before flying.http://www.filefront.com/15050029/JazzG_02.zipJim Hodkinson (now very confused)
Hi Jim,No apologies required Jim. You do what you have to do. This is definitely not a priority. Thanks for the paint fix, it now looks like one of our fleet. I think the bosses would cringe if they saw this..lolI took her for a spin and checked the logo lights and it's gorgeous. ( I know you don't have to fly her to check the lights, but that's why I bought her...lol) Works as advertised.I tried the other J41's and the logo lights work from the get go. I am not experiencing the same thing you are, but it seems numerous people are having various problems with the J41.Once again thank you very much.I'm a little nervous to ask but we also have red, yellow and orange.I appreciate your work so there is no rush. Afterall I have my green bird. Bernie
