December 8, 200916 yr Hey everyone,I know this isn't a support forum but I have little luck with Captainsim and their support. Has anyone experienced problems with the radio when you fly the 727 Captain for FSX? Everytime I touch the nav radio knobs i am unable to contact atc. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem (or am I all alone!)This is just one of a whole slew of problems I have with that aircraft. I wish I never spend the 70 Bucks! Thanks!

I wish I never spend the 70 Bucks! Thanks!Yes, that is one of the problems I was just about to post a request for help/advice on, myself... Out of 6 attempts to make a flight in the CS 727-200 so far, I've had: - 4 attempts failed when the engine starters refused to work at all. Latest attempt, not even Ctrl-E would get the engines to budge. - 1 time when I did get the engines started, it was just an attempt to see if I could even get the engines to start and didn't have time for a whole flight... - and 1 time where I did get the engines to start, radioed in for taxi instructions, and by the time I got to the runway (which was a very short distance away from where I had been parked), my entire avionics had shut down--no radio, no GPS, nada... Looked like the typical FS battery failure scenario... Assigned the avionics on/off toggle to a key combination, and would not turn back on.Starting to think that I just threw my money down the drain, too.... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE

Its really annoying. Especially when I have already invested 30-40 mins in startup and taxi only to find out the radios dont work when I want to get takeoff clearance! :( Other than that I really like this aircraft. There is a patch due this month that is supposed to fix some of this stuff, but we'll see.

I wish I never spend the 70 Bucks! Thanks!I would check out the Unofficial CS Forum here at AVSIM and see if there's a fix for your problem. That's the support forum for CS products here at AVSIM and there have been some fixes found. Do you have the same problem when you do NOT manually enter frequencies but use the FSX built-in ATC? The built-in ATC will change the commo frequency too and if that works, it should work manually too (logic say). You are using the commo freq and not Nav 1 which are used for navigation? Your comment that you touch the "nav radio knobs" got me suspicious. You're not going to like it when I tell you they are having another 9.99 Euro sale on the 11th. Everything is for 9.99 but you might want to read my warning over at the hanger chat forum...Best regards,Jim
December 9, 200916 yr I guess I'm just lucky. I bought the CS 727-100 Pro Pack a few weeks ago. I have about 40 hours in it at this point. I have had zero problems with it. I won't discount the experience of others who have had difficulties, but I just haven't seen them in my installation. The plane is very resource intensive because it has so much going on with it. It needs a fairly muscular computer to run on. To my eye, it's one of the best and most interesting models ever done for FS. The level of detail is amazing. I don't know if Captain Sim's tech support is good or bad because I haven't needed any. The initial learning curve was kind of steep -- that process of learning how the plane operates so you can fly it -- but once I got over that hump, it has been smooth sailing. I love the plane and I would buy it again. Lose not thine airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.

Don't know about the engine problems. You may try to add this line to your electrical section in your a/c config: electric_always_available = 1This has helped a lot of people who were experiencing problems.
December 9, 200916 yr Do you have the same problem when you do NOT manually enter frequencies but use the FSX built-in ATC?Makes no difference. The problem appears to be related to the internal FS battery being dead, completely shutting down the avionics and radios... Even though I turned on the generators, it looks like the generators may be not-always-functional...I'll try making that change to make the electric always available in the aircraft.cfg, at least until the patch is released...
