December 10, 200916 yr Hello all,I really love flying this J41, I've been a FS enthusiast in the past and I'm just getting back into it. However I see now that there are so many FSX add ons that I could go bankrupt trying them all and I think most of them will do nothing but slow down my machine. I like flying technical IFR flights through challenging weather situations so my question is this; what are the really must have add ons for FSX? I don't do much low level "site seeing" flights but I do like detailed scenery for landing approaches and am trying to get the most realistic feel as possible. Any ideas?ThanksMorph
December 10, 200916 yr There is a thread in the general forum with a discussion on what add-ons folks have.Good IFR needs better weather than default, either ASX or REX are good choices (I recently added REX), but IFR approaches don't really need detailed scenery. However, I do like the FS Dream Team products best (KORD KJFK KLAS etc). Scenery is strickly a personal choice I believe unless you are into VFR flying. The only must have is a registered copy of FSUIPC to smooth the wind/pressure/temp variations that the default wx engine thows at us. December 10, 200916 yr Other than the seven hour download, it seems pretty good. I haven't played with it much yet and certainly haven't noticed a frame rate issue. By the way, I also got the CD that arrived about five days later. Dan Downs KCRP
December 12, 200916 yr Yes, I can second that about REX2... the download takes a little long, but the results are worth the wait!Andrew Andrew Entwistle
December 14, 200916 yr FS Passengers is another nice program that plays well with the J41. While the payload model I am using is not 100% spot on I can usually get it really close. Today I had a simulated bird strike (didn't know it at the time) on departure out of Seattle. The left engine high oil temp light came on in the CAP panel which was my first alert to the unfolding disaster. I tried to make an emergency landing in Ellensburg WA. and think I would have gotten it down but I got distracted and ended up overspeeding on the way down. Losing the aircraft crew and 17pax...RIP RE Thomason Jr.
