December 19, 200916 yr Ian, I can relate to this idea. This is the one reason why I have never built a cockpit in the house or garage. I would never be able to satisfy desires to fly just one plane in FSX. One thing I did recently was rename my Simobjects Airplane folder then created a new Airplane folder with just a couple of my complex aircraft that I want to isolate my efforts. As I see need to change out planes I can interchange between the two folders. My 2010 training plan will start with LH Maddog. KeithKeithYou know, I was thinking of the Maddog myself. It's the one simulation I've always shied away from in view of its complexity, and difference to the Boeings and Airbuses that I'm more familiar with. I'm seriously thinking of setting myself up as an MD-80 FO and getting to grips with the aircraft at last. Would you be going for the Standard or Pro version? I have to say, I would feel happier with the more modern FMS set-up as used by the majority of operators, and which I believe is included in the standard version... Ian

So far I am thinking of studying the systems, limitations, then start flying it. From now on I plan on taking this approach to all of my addons, but just one at a time. The other advantage to this is that my aircraft menu is a lot smaller. The admin burden of moving planes around or renaming folders is enough to keep me focused on one bird at a time. I still have a few of my fun planes and those I have real-world experience with, but the main effort will be on the MD-80.ThanksKeith Keith Guillory
December 20, 200916 yr Consider it DONE! Thanks. I'm taking some time off over the Holidays, and I fully expect to learn FMS navigation!StanHi Stan,Do you mean that you currently aren't using the FMS at all, or just wish to learn to fly SIDS and STARS? If it's the former, I think you deserve a golf star for flying these things without an FMS!Stan, that is a beefy system you have there. Tell me if you will, is there anything that negatively affects FSX total performance on that dude? Max weather using REX2, 4096 HD textures, EVERYTHING hard right, and all is 100% smooth with best IQ, frames over 25 everywhere you fly in any 3rd party add on . . . or is there any compromise ever required? I bought my rig over a year ago and decided to get the best I could at the time in the hope of avoiding upgrades permanents (ie until this stuff dies) or at least skip a couple of generations of CPUs. I have very good performance currently, but there is surely some compromise I have to do, not much tho.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
