December 17, 200916 yr I really love Flight Simulation. I've been doing it religiously for at least 13 years now (maybe more). I have a great system, fabulous addons, and I receive thorough enjoyment whenever I fire it up. But I still can't do one thing: I never learned the FMS navigation procedures. I know......there's no excuse! There's many great new aircraft coming out, besides the heavies, that employ this method of navigation...and I don't buy them for that one reason.So......HERE'S MY FSX NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION:LEARN FMS NAVIGATION IN 2010!Now, what's your FSX New Year's Resolution?Stan
December 17, 200916 yr My resolution? I'd have to say less tweaking and more flying. :( Happy Flying! -George

I use both audio (narration) AND visual (on-screen) cues to walk you through Smith's (Boeing) FMC programming as it is simulated in PMDG, and similar aircraft. My own NY Resolution for FS is to learn CDAP (Constant Descent Approach Procedures), so I can then make tutorials on these. These are more or less controlled Visual approaches when there is no ILS to guide you in.
December 17, 200916 yr I can echo a lot of what everyone so far has posted: Master the FMS, stop tweaking and do more flying, stop buying planes that I never fly. Perhaps the one that I would call a resolution is to Learn the Maddog. Keith Keith Guillory
December 17, 200916 yr Moderator Unlike Stan my resolution is the opposite. After years of flying the LDS 767 in FSX and the PMDG 737 in FS9, I have become so used to using an FMC for navigation that I feel like I have become too dependant on it.Last week during the Captain Sim sale, I purchased all 3 variations of the 727 of which has no FMC, no GPS, and is purely old school radio navigation. I have been flying it most of the week, mostly without using the autopilot and flying VOR to VOR. While the plane is much more demanding to fly alone than the more automated 767 and 737, it gives me a greater sense of satisfaction when I can do a flight from point A to point b without even peaking at the GPS pop up.So thats my resolution, to take a step back from the automated flying and get used to my 727 and become proficient at flying it. December 18, 200916 yr Mine is to get back onto VATSIM... :(+1 ... all my AI traffic is set to 0, all I ever do for long flights is log time on VATSIM. I have to fight the constant urge to dose off while punching tons of mouse clicks before a flight-but I am planning to take the plunge also this year-that is if I can resist taking off in a conventional GA airplane and exploring the mountain west. December 18, 200916 yr I read someplace where one of our simmer buddies "just went outside and the graphics were terrible". Musta been up North. I'm too busy playing with my early Chrismas presents - lets see, got the 747 Queen at BB for $30, got a bunch of Friendly panels for 1/2 off at one of the sim shops, picked up the C-130x full pro pack, 727 and Freighter at the CS $14 US sale, got the Mooney and Cessna 206 package at the Carenado/PC Aviator 40% offsale. I must be looking at a couple of hundred dollars worth of ink cartridges just to print the manuals. Now lets see, early next year we have the F-18 super bug coming out in March, still haven't got the Lotus L-39 yet. Those sugar plums are still dancing in my head, oh crap, I almost landed gear up while enjoying the free Tasmania scenery. Gotta go change my pants. Merry Christmas all. When Pigs Fly .
