December 21, 200916 yr I know what the FLEX temperature means... if the air is hot, the engines don't work as good as with cold air... ok, that's fine... but, how much is the impact? I've no idea how to figure this out... I don't want a full table for that, but... let's say it's about 0

December 22, 200916 yr I use a table that was supplied to me by a fellow VA pilot. However I'd like to try the Utopia program you speak of. Do you have a link?Capt Paul

December 22, 200916 yr Check the avsim library for a FLEX temperature Excel sheet. Given standard parameters, you can work out the desired FLEX temperature to enter as a function of runway length, TOGW, air pressure, head/tailwind component...Although I cannot vouch 100% for its accuracy, I have never run into problems on takeoff (ie running out of concrete before Vr...) yet. The MD11 FMS is good at predicting V1 for the runway length as well, as I have a lot lower V1s for a shorter runway... particularly with the FLEX...If you cannot find the file in the library (because it was corrupted in the library rebuild and hasn't been re-uploaded yet perhaps), PM me with your mail address, and I can send you the file...PS: In order for your threads not to be locked here, you really need to think about putting your full name in a signature here...Andrew Andrew Entwistle
December 22, 200916 yr I will search that file... and if I don't find it, I'll ask you... thanks... PS: In order for your threads not to be locked here, you really need to think about putting your full name in a signature here...Ok, no problem... but the way how this is sayed, that was like "shooting first and asking the questions later" ... why are so many people in those forums always so agressive ?? I don't know if this is just my feeling, but it seems, that exspecially in flight sim forums the tone is always very harsh... why can't they simply say that in normal words? ... isn't the world bad enough? ... or are all stressed because of christmas? :-)Rudolf

Staff has been cracking down more lately on people not following the rules and I think this was more a friendly warning/reminder. It is funny though that there seems to be aggression in so many forums. Some people have all the time in the world to read post after post after post and some really simply don't. Others also may be use to forums, and have already learned certain forum etiquette and make it a habbit to read each forums own rules and regs prior to posting. These things are not obvious to people that are not use to public forums but from times like this, certainly do learm ;-) There are also some that have the "If I have to, so do you outlook", but I can assure you that this forum has some of the most helpful individuals I've seen (and I'm old), and I have about 15 different forums I visit regularly. The staff/moderation here are also really good about keeping things rather civil, and much better than whay I'm use to. The thing I find the most irritating is the ones that will spend 5 minutes telling someone you should learn to do an advanced search, the answer is right there type of talk, or even put them down on top of it and flat out insult them, when they could have just provided a link and a smile and been on their way. Sometimes it's hard to remember we were all new, once. Anywho, we all have our days, and for the most part we all try to edjucate the beginners on forum rules as well as product FAQ. The funny thing is, we all help enforce the name rule so we can in fact, keep things more cordial :( Have a very Merry and a Happy happy! i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

One of the issues of international fora is the fact that they are international. English is my mother tongue, I even teach it here in Germany... the statement was perfectly normal, with no hidden agenda...As Dan mentioned, my statement was merely a friendly reminder that without a full name in your post signature, you will be unlikely to get support from the PMDG support team and the moderators of this forum will most likely lock the thread if and when they were to see it. Perhaps my only mistake was not to add something like "a friendly reminder or warning..."It was in no means intended to a "shoot first and ask questions later". As you say, there is too much aggression already in the world. Christmas doesn't stress me, just everyone else getting stressed about Christmas gets me stressed :(I await your PM if you have no luck with the library... :(Andrew Andrew Entwistle
December 24, 200916 yr This thread is going to get locked, you 'need' to read the rules round here and sign your posts with your real name....RobSorry Rob,but I read very clearly "Rudolf Meier". Or are we supposed to type our full name anyway in stead of only using a signature?Regards,Wijnand Lindelauf (EHBK) Wijnand Lindelauf (EHBK)

December 24, 200916 yr He added his name after my post.Right... :-)and what I also wanted to say... if I (or others) don't read all those FAQ and HOWTO's, this might have to do with how things works today... for everything (even how to open a chips bag) you have to read 50 pages (A4) and at the end it does not even work... so, maybe those things could be way easier and shorter described and also not hidden in a little corner at the bottom of a website (I don't say it's hidden here, but often it is...)... and, maybe I did overreact a little bit too... sorry...Rudolf
