Jet whine always at airports

Featured Replies

Are you talking about those ambient sounds that are almost always there whether there are aircraft for not? If so, I hate those as well.I hate those two. Does anybody know what wav file they are and how to turn it down? I can't figure out how to edit wav volume with the W7 sound recorder - in XP you could do it.

Hi All,OK! How about another add-on that has airport environmental sounds?

Indeed. Could it be UT2 perhaps?

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

No UT2 on my computer, but I
I have that noise at times also. A quick check of some previous threads suggests that if you turn the sound on and off by hitting "q" a few times it may go away. Have not tried that myself yet. I agree finding the .wav file would be nice to get rid of it once and for all.
That doesn't work wither. How about AES? is anyone using it? Problem with this theory is that I get the sound at non AES airports.

It is a "flaw" in FSX that affects everyone at times. You can press "Q" all day long and it won't make a bit of difference.Changing aircraft, then changing to spot view before switching back to the a/c you want seems to stop the "whining" or "prop thudding..."...at least until it decides to start up again. :(

That sound has to be located somewhere in the FSX folder. Do you know what the wav files is? maybe it can be deleted?

"That sound" is simply the .wav file defined by the sound.cfg for the specific aircraft currently loaded. Deleting it would be a bad idea, since it would also remove that sound when your engine(s) are running!
