February 26, 201016 yr Hey again,Im looking to OC my Intel Core 2 duo T6600. At the moment, its running at 2.2 GHz. I used Orthos (a version of Prime95 that was adapted for dual cores) to see if my computer could handle it and all seems fine. I tried using ClockGen and SetFBS to OC it, but no such luck. It freezes when I turn it up one notch and click apply changes; from there, I have to do a hard shut down. Am I missing something?Specs:Windows 7 64xDell Inspiron 1545Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.2Ghz4GB of ramATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330Intel Chipset Danny
February 26, 201016 yr Laptops have a short lifespan as it is - reason being: HeatOne should never try to overclock without adeqate cooling. Your bios I am sure are locked to prevent overclocking.Personally, I'd quit while I was ahead. Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. February 26, 201016 yr SetFSB is notorious for causing system freezes. If you have this problem with your system, you'd need to find another way to OC. As the previous poster said though, overclocking a laptop isn't generally a good idea unless the manufacturer has supplied rather beefy cooling and a means to overclock.
February 26, 201016 yr Thanks...I'll wait until I get a desktop to OC it. :(It would be a shame to see smoke coming out of the 1545. It's a great lap-top! A nice build.Mitch
February 27, 201016 yr My old laptop has these outlines for carving out ventilation holes in the bottom, and I "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
