March 10, 201016 yr My VC is and has always been the flat 2d kind. I've never seen the one with 3d switches before so would be very interested in what that is as well. Nobody seems to have actually answered that question yet. i7 2600k @ 5.1Ghz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 580 @ 950MHz, OCZ Vertex II 240GB, ASUS Xonar DG, Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W PSU, Antec KÜHLER 620 W/C, Corsair 600T SE White My FS9 Screens - http://fs9screens.blogspot.com/ Callum Richardson
March 16, 201016 yr Ive seen that over head panel like that before (in the pics above) and its not right. When I reinstalled my copy or the PMDG737 it was more 3D and sharper than that. Right now im using the 737-800 and 900 with FScrew Voice Edition and cant get enough of it. Its like a totaly diffrent simulator.Im not sure if its something to do with the upgrade on the 800 and 900 version but I would say the 3d cockpit is rather good. March 17, 201016 yr The VC with the 3D looking switches is the original 737NG 600/700 and was not a clickable VC. With the 800/900 package came the opportunity to upgrade all the 737 VCs to make them clickable and that one has the "less than 3D" look. To my mind it is one of the better clickable VCs from that era.Iain Smith
March 18, 201016 yr It's true, the 800-900 series have a 2D looking OH panel, a lot sharper and fully functional. I assumed that the 800-900 package upgraded the panels of the original 600-700 release, just as it did with 2D panels, TCAS etc... so I just loaded my 600 for the screenshothere's a screen of it (now with the panel lights on, which also helps a bit)
March 18, 201016 yr Author Decision making is difficult. I will not buy the PMDG 737 now, though. I think I'll wait until they release the FSX version, and see if they plan to do it for FS9 too (yes, I know chances are slim!). Right now, though, I have a lot of planes I have not mastered yet, and I think it's best to first learn the other planes. March 20, 201016 yr A lot of people have been answering a non-existant question. I will clarify, as a fairly seasoned PMDG 738 driver, the virtual cockpit is FULLY functional, but since it was designed in the 2002 era (the 800/900 is mearly an update of the 600/700), it is made up of 2d images, rather than proper 3d buttons. Yes, certain buttons are 3d, ones that just wouldn't look right if they were 2d, but i must reiterate, it is FULLY functional. If you buy all 4 aircraft, the 800/900 functionality will be extended to the 600/700 too, replacing that useless cockpit. Andrew McCluskey
March 20, 201016 yr I fully expect the new 737NGX to have a VC that will resemble that which is found in the JS41, and that is fine by me. March 21, 201016 yr I fully expect the new 737NGX to have a VC that will resemble that which is found in the JS41, and that is fine by me.Of course it will, the 737 was one of the first PMDG products, as stated -- produced in the FS2002 era -- hence the relatively poor VC (NOTE: When I say poor I am referring to graphics, functionally, it's wonderful :) ).
