REX water settings

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have REX and I love what it does for FS9, but I can't come up with water settings that look real. I guess a lot of it is determined by the sim but the pulsating waves are driving me nuts. Even with it set to calm it doesn't look right. Any help would be appreciated.

Try the 'experimental'. Very nice visual, with no pulse.Mitch

I would highly recommend Zinertek's Ultimate Water Advanced.

Mitch, I tried the experimental, but she's still pulsing. I may have to do a reinstallation of REX and see if that fixes it.

Sadly, the pulsing is something that's in the REX wave animations. A reinstall won't help. I have heard good things about Zinerteks Water Advanced, but I don't have it myself, so I won't be able to say too much about it...

I had Zinertek's water before REX was released, and I've gone back to it, mostly because I found the overall effect more realistic than REX's. REX's water suffers from "lines of perspective" that appear toward the horizon at certain altitudes and angles, which I found very off-putting. Zinertek's water manages to avoid this effect, and features more realistic reflection effects. Everything else in REX is positively paradigm-shattering, of course, so the water thing is just personal preference.(Well, I did go with ASE for the weather generation, also....)

I gave up on the water in REX FS2004 also and just this past week went with the Zinertek Tech's Ultimate Water Advanced. It works great with REX FS2004, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thanks to everyone for your replies. I have the Zinertek water program but put it away when I got REX. I'll give it another look. Thanks again.

Just for reference, does anyone know the proper install order for the following add-ons?GE Pro | REX2004 | FSGenesis mesh and landclass | Zinertek's Ultimate Water Advanced | Active Sky Evolution |

I ran across the same problem and was able to somewhat minimize the pulsating effect by setting the Water Effects slider to Low instead of High in FS.I have also been unable to achieve a believable blue color for the Inland Water setting. The color box shows what I'd like to acheive for a blue shade, but all my inland water ways (lakes, ponds etc) all come out very greenish, in all seasons. So I have reverted to using my old Flight Environment water color just for the Inland Water settings of REX. I'm considering Zinertek as well.

I've got REX as well and just installed ZUWA...I like ZUWA's realistic look but would like to somehow be able to tweak colors...as previous poster mentions, I found some of the best colors as part of Flight Environment--especially for inland. Is it possible to copy FE water color textures into ZUWA? I looked in FS9/Textures and didn't see ZUWA .bmps...they may be there but it wasn't obvious. Somehow, a water kluge between REX + ZUWA +FE might yield a winner.THanksRich Perry

By doing that, you simply removed the waves completely.
