March 16, 201016 yr The one that's helped me the most is the Frame Rate Limiter Program:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...5251&st=125Other various programs that I have:Track IRSquawkBox for vatsimFirefox web browser for airport charts using www.skyvector.com | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 16, 201016 yr I don't think they are all "must haves", I don't run all those, but they are certainly all useful addons - if you need them.Agreed, I don't run most of those either. Hope you are not loading most of those utilities before a flight, I'd be surprised your performance doesn't suffer.one utility I really enjoy is Helitraffic 2009http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=helitraffic Best, Michael KDFW
March 16, 201016 yr Agreed, I don't run most of those either. Hope you are not loading most of those utilities before a flight, I'd be surprised your performance doesn't suffer.one utility I really enjoy is Helitraffic 2009http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=helitraffic Huh? None of the utilities I mentioned above have anything to do with flying. However, IMHO you cannot manage FS resources without those utilities. For example:AIFPC - If you are using FSX - you cannot effectively use all those FS9 flight plans without this utility. If you do, your flights will not start on the proper day nor will your airport ICAO codes match the new ones in FSX.Renum - Just try and MANUALLY renumber all those sections in the aircraft.cfg file. For example, you've just added 8 new aircraft textures to a particular aircraft's cfg file. Sure you can renumber the cfg sections manually - but why. You just keep a copy of renum in each aircraft's folder and when you want to ensure all the sections are numbered properly, execute the utility.AI contrails - I suppose one can do without AI aircraft contrails - but why would you want to.addatsign.exe - There are quite a large number of developers who still do not use the "@" sign in their flight plans. I think it is safe to say that years of experience have shown that if your AI environment flight plans use this function, the FPs work better.FSScenery.exe - OK, this is not one you really need. I just threw it in.Traffic Tools Companion - I keep a master airports.txt file and use it on all of my FPs. This file can get really large and have a huge amount of duplicates. That makes things quite messy during compile time with Traffic Tools - especially if the duplicate airports have different data points. I keep my aircraft.txt master file clear of duplicates and I think it works much more efficiently.daytoweek.exe - There are still developers that use "DAY" in their flight plans. I believe it has been shown through experience that if you input all your flights with "WEEK" that the whole AI system works better. So, you have to have this utility to sort out this issue.
March 16, 201016 yr AI contrails? That's sounds like one I would like. Where do you pick this up? Does it hurt performance in any way? I assume it works with MyTrafficX?Appreciate that little tid bit.
March 16, 201016 yr Can i ask why RC4 and AI-SMooth are not mentioned in this thread or even FS Commander.
March 16, 201016 yr Author Can i ask why RC4 and AI-SMooth are not mentioned in this thread or even FS Commander.Hi,Sure you can. When I started this thread, I had two goals: 1) to help people who didn't know about addons I thought useful 2) have people give everybody heads up about addons I did not know about. It is working :( My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
March 21, 201016 yr Author I'd wish to add 5 new utilities:-EZCA V1.00-EZCA V1.10-EZCA V1.20-EZCA V1.30-EZCA V1.31 :( (This guy's brain runs faster than his computer!! He is a true genious and his tool a real must have)Hi,The funny thing is that I had not read any EZCA related posts in this forum because I believed that EZCA was yet another detailed airport scenery which I don't care very much for. Now I know what EZCA is and it looks good!I could also add to my list what I consider a must even though not an add on per se: A second monitor. If you have a two output video card, and don't use it, you are missing something. It allows you to have FS on one screen and maps on the other one. Very handy My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
