ILS LOC Freq

When using the default GPS, after an approach is selected, the ILS LOC FREQ is automatically loaded to the VOR1 standby FREQ. Can I find the runway ILS FREQ in the JS4100 FMS somewhere?TIAjja

Word of warning, you need to sign your full name on on all your posts in the PMDG forums as per the rules, otherwise they get deleted. To answer your question, no, it's been discussed in other threads if you care to search. You'll have to use charts to look up the frequency and runway heading.Chris (廖傑英)

I'm asking for this too. I don't prefer to look up headings/freq in charts, having been totally spoiled by other PMDG aircraft. It doesn't fit into my preferred use pattern, to have to get into charts. I am not a RW aviator, just simulation fan, and don't need skills to learn to use charts. I hope they add this feature. Until they do, you can use the Default GPS and find them most of the time.Noel

You can also use the map feature in FSX if you want, and click on the navaid you want information on - you can get the runway heading, frequencies, morse etc. But in fairness, charts are not hard to use or to find, however much of a hassle they may be - and they can give you lots of additional valuable information.I'm doubtful frequencies will be added to the GNS-XLS, as I don't believe such functionality exists in real life (and I'm sure I remember reading on another thread PMDG said they wouldn't implement it). It's not PMDG that's been spoiling you, it's simply more sophisticated and modern aircraft. Some real life functions such as the HOLD page aren't modelled, so I find it unlikely that fictional behaviour will be added in, particularly as there is little perceived user demand for it.The ATR 72-500 FMS may include frequency information, if you want those sort of features in a turboprop package. It's certainly a lot easier to fly, but I find it less fun and less involving.Chris (廖傑英)

As Chris said, it is fairly easy to find approach plates for most countries regional and major airports...Search for AIP and country name of choice... this will take you to the national AIP of the country chosen. Many AIPs are online and free of charge (some require prior registration but still remain free). Failing that, there are charts available for other locations via VATSIM and IVAO's sites...You would always have the chart in the real life cockpit... (even if part of an electronic flight bag...)Andrew
