March 17, 201016 yr Hi There I've noted that an increasing number of US airport IAPs include RNAV approaches. Is it possible to set up an RNAV approach using the MD11 FMC? Does this type of approach have to be hand flown or can you use the automatics? The approach that I have in mind is the PHNL IAP for Runway 8R. I would appreciate any help or advice that anyone can give me regarding this matter.RgdsSteve HoneyLincolnUK
March 17, 201016 yr Yes, the MD-11 is RNP certified.http://www.boeing.com/commercial/caft/refe.../RNP082400S.pdf - William Ruppel, CYTZ, VATSIM 816871
March 18, 201016 yr As far as I understand and remember it, you pick the RNAV procedure, in so far as one is available, as you would a runway/ILS procedure in the FMS. You may be required to enter a min prof altitude, which can be read from the appropriate approach plate. Either you fly the ILS on final or hand fly from the Final Approach Fix... March 20, 201016 yr Why 8R? PHNL 8L has a RNAV(RNP) approach with lower minima than the GPS. You can use PROF all the way down to MDA, then hand fly to landing. PHNL is included in my collection of US SIDSTARS and I have modelled the arcs of the RNP26L missed approach as charted. The current one is in the AVSIM library filename cycle_1003_sidstars.zip Dan Downs KCRP
