April 15, 201016 yr HiI have some questions that require your aid1- Soon I will change my OS from Windows XP to 7, the new OS will have RC 4.3 installed.I've kept the .exe files for an eventual uninstall/reinstall (I didn't regret that decision :) ), but will be there any issues concerning validation? I mean, You will get a validation request twice from the same guy, will your comupter think of some kind of swindle, and deny my request? Can I prove I'ts always me (paying customer) requesting new validation?2- Assuming reinstall works as planned, I'll have to run Scenery Database to update stock RC data with new data from FSXThe utility will produce some files: Where will they be created, and where should they be put in order to be used within RC? (I'm asking this as I didn't fully understand the manual chapter about this)3-In some topics here in this forum I've asked info about the feature "Request Pilot's Discretion Descent", with every restriction crossing that comes with it (the 40/30 miles level off)On A flight between EGL and KSFO I didn't see that feature available, and I had to comply with RC asking me to descent way before my calculated Top of DescentI suspect there is a setting issue behind this: maybe it's Pilot Autoreply that must be switched off? If not, is there another setting parameter to be satisfied? Thanks for your patient help! Specs: Windows 7 64bit / Intel Core i5-3550 @3.30 GHz / 8.00 Gb RAM / ATI Radeon HD 7800 2Gb

April 15, 201016 yr You'll save quite a bit of grief if you install FS, RC, and other add-on programs not under any Program Files folder or tree on any disk partition. This avoids the requirement in most cases to be logged in as an admin and having to set the programs to run as admin so all FS and add-on folders can easily be shared among them. When you run the FSUIPC.exe installer to upgrade it (and get makerwys in the FS9 section for all versions) getting them from here:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlbe sure you are logged in as an admin.

April 15, 201016 yr VISTA and more so WIN 7 provide extra restrictions on accessing files for stuff installed in any Program Files folder and sub folders. This makes things difficult for programs to write to each others folders. As install folder examples just use these on the drive letter of your choice:D:\Microsoft Games\Flight simulator X\D:\RCV4\D:\Active Sky\D:\FS Build\This should avoid error 75 and other file access problems when one program needs to get data files in another program's folder. In this example FS Build can get to Active Sky's weather snapshot for fuel planning, export to an aircraft FMC route folder, and export to your FS flight plan folder..Active Sky can get to your flight plans folder to grab it for its more efficient weather processing and navlog weather report along your route and also get to FSUIPC if needed.RC gets to FS via FSUIPC access and to your flight plan folder. It also gets to FS to run what it needs for a scenery database rebuild. All this should get done without you running programs set to run at higher security access and you logging in as an admin to elevate your security access. Can you explain yourself better?

I have FS9 and FSX on my D drive with the structure you don't recommend i.e. Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS and I do not have any of the problems being discussed here. I don't have to select "run as admin" for either FS, RC or ASE and everything runs as it should. This is in Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.Iain Smith
