May 3, 201016 yr I can't even get FS9 to run on Windows7. It starts and hangs. It installed in the Program Files (x86) directory, and despite uninstalling repeatedly it simply will not run.I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, but I understand legacy programs install in that (x86) area so they can run in 32 bit mode, so exlpected FS9 to simply work.Has anyone got this thing up and running successfully? If so ..what's the davinci code for doing it?jj
May 3, 201016 yr I'm using FS9.1 with Win7 professional 64 bit. FS was first in the Program Files (x86) folder, then I moved it to a separate drive to speed up loading. No poblems with either install. You might try running FS as Administrator. If that doesn't work, delete your fs9.cfg file and see if FS will rebuild it. You also might check your fs9.cfg file to confirm that it is pointing to a know good startup .flt.Jim Harnes

So I went to;C:\Users\Gerry\Documents\Flight Simulator Files and found the saved files. I clicked on one of those and FS9 started no problem. I then created a shortcut to it on the desktop and everything was fine.Hope it helps.Gerry

I'll try that. (been away from the PC lately) Just curious ...did all your aircraft work ?
June 4, 201016 yr Has anyone got this thing up and running successfully? If so ..what's the davinci code for doing it?Yes I have with precisely the same version of Win 7 that you use. I placed FS9 and FSX in their own folders in the root c: directory
June 5, 201016 yr Yes I have with precisely the same version of Win 7 that you use. I placed FS9 and FSX in their own folders in the root c: directoryThanks, I also got a similar reply on another forum. He suggested that on the C drive I create a new directory called FS Games and install the program into that. I did so and now I'm a happy camper. Everything appears to be working fine. It makes me wonder why most older programs get installed automatically into the x86 directory. It sure didn't work from there.I've copied my aircraft and scenery files over from my old computer and am missing an area 40 file so will have to see how I blew that. I also have Real Environment Pro on my old machine and am trying to find the install files to get it on the new one. No luck so far. I think it has to be installed as an independent program. I may have to contact the vendor for help on that one.Anyway ..thanks for the replies everyone. For awhile there I thought I might have to keep my old laptop just for FS9.jj
