Set to:[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285.0] <- this should show only your GPU, not mine, and there should be ONE such line in your fs9.cfg ONLYMode=1600x1200x32 <- here also, choose resolution that is best for you, but with x32.TriLinear=1[DISPLAY]UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=40TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40
Word Not Allowed, are you sure it was 40, or maybe 400?Thanks,Dirk.

It's 40. This tweak doesn't really do squat. I tested it in zillion combinations. Same performance in texuture loading, no matter the situation, with 40 and 400 and whatever in between. All people reporting better texture loading: a pure placebo effect, nothing else. Noone ever really gave a real proof of it working... but I don't really wanna go into it much. If you think 400 is right, then use 400.

Just a thought...As this topic has been revived, I'll mention that I've had an idea that may help things for quite a while, but haven't got round to trying anything yet. As I understand, texture tiles are saved with the mip-maps, has anyone tried saving the tile files using a different reduction algorithm. DXTBMP lists about 15 different compression types I think (box, quadratic etc), so it would take some time to try them all. Certainly the results of each are different for "ordinary" use, but would it help here or even show any difference in FS?I'll maybe get round to trying it some time (when I've got a few weeks to spare!!), but does anyone know if I'd just be wasting my time. Does anyone know the present algo used?Dave

added this to the fs9.cfg as it was not in it. >MipBias=8Can someone please explain exactly what this setting does?

What a bozo! You can't help some people, can you?DO NOT add anything to the fs9.cfg file unless you are absolutely sure about what you are adding. The trouble it could cause you could become something you'll never recover from.

def. bozo [bo-zo] from Latin rudus twittus "A person who calls another person asking an innocent question by a rude epithet" (alt) "Someone with poor manners and/or who likes to belittle others to make him/herself look intelligent" :(

haha!  Good on ya, Kiwi!  I wonder if he/she will get it?Ron

Thanks mate. I have no personal beef with this person, but this is usually a very civilized forum and so hopefully he/she will get the message...

Word Not Allowed, I've found some of your past posts with explanation of how thigs work in fs9.cfg saved in my archives. You've been very helpful and I should say that my own observations have always matched your conclusions. Thanks for responding in this older thread as well.Cheers,Dirk.

Thanks Dirk, glad someone had use of that :(
