May 23, 201016 yr Hello everyone,Recently my FSX installation has been very unsturdy. Here is everything that I have been experiencing:- Fatal errors once every 15 or so minutes;- Odd stuttering, where the audio pops and the game "stutters," happens once every couple seconds (ALT+TABbing out of and back into the game temporarily makes the game smooth again, however the stutters start up again within a minute);- When the simulation initially loads, nothing is rendered, i.e. everything is a blocky texture or not completely rendered; I have to ALT+TAB out of the game and ALT+TAB back in to get everything to load properly;- Frequent blue screens of death, with the message "SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION";- While simming, every 5 minutes I get a .NET "Unhandled exception" error, and everytime I try to find the cause, the description points me to one of my addons, which has all of a sudden failed for no reason (FS AI Separation, AISmooth, REX 2.0, FS Water Configurator, Ultimate Traffic 2).I don't know why everything is so unreliable all of a sudden, never in my life have I had such an unstable game installation. I tried everything; complete system defragmentation + optimization, full virus scan, disk cleanup, update of sound and video drivers, installing the latest Windows Updates, deletion and rebuilding of logbook.bin and fsx.cfg, and such, however nothing seems to be helping. I am getting desperate, I don't know what's going on! Please help! Thanks very much in advance! May 23, 201016 yr My system was behaving erratic after the new concorde install, and naturaly i blamed that...Until i cleaned out all the dust in the computer and its watercooling unit.- Sometimes its hardware that needs tending, have you cleaned it lately?Kind regards Henrik Owenius
May 23, 201016 yr Get the covers off, BG - blow it out and then bring it back to it's default clock. There's a bunch of stability-testing software out the - get CPU-Z, IntelBurnTest, CoreTemp, FurMark; there are others, too if you get on the O/C sites. Run them and see where it takes you. This sounds like something is overheating. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
May 23, 201016 yr Moderator Sounds more like a hardware issue, BG!FIRST - remove the overclock - get back to stock speeds. Clean all - especially the Graphics cards dust filters. Check all cables and cards to see they are seated properly. Then run FSX while checking the temps and see if anything looks off. If it still happens with the clock off - start checking memory, etc.Good luck!Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

You can keep your system to +2c ambient air temp running an extreme benchmark like FutureMark while OC'lking. I'm going to do it when the new nVidia (Hermi) card is released.jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
May 24, 201016 yr Author I'll try out Prime95 and other diagnostics and tests later on, but I cracked open the case and there is indeed tons of dust and grime all over the place. I'll buy some compressed air and clean everything out, run more tests, then let everyone know what's going on.Thanks for all the help so far.PS...is even the "unhandled exception" error caused by hardware? May 24, 201016 yr Commercial Member I just replaced my system drive a few days ago. Drive was starting to get a little flakey. What a difference that made as my FSX setup was running pretty poorly that past 2 weeks also. I can't believe how good it is running now. Had no need to reinstall the OS. Just had to reactivate FSX, Level-D license and Reality XP license. Reinstalled the video drivers and NTune. The OS was last installed in May of 2005. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
