May 27, 201016 yr Hi guys,I was just wondering, now that JD and others are working on RC5, if there's a way to include a STEP profiel in RC. Most planes will use a higher CRZ due to the fact that burning fuel during the flight will enable the PF to select a higher altitude thus getting a more optimum burn rate. When looking at FSBuild, one can enable a CLIMB (or STEP) profile. Maybe RC5 can provide such an option too? Eric [FSX on Windows7 64-bit]
May 27, 201016 yr You can do that now. Specify your initial enroute altitude in the Controller page of RC (if you don't want to modify your FSB plan). As the enroute portion of your flight progresses you can request higher altitudes. If you are flying the high altitude routes this should appear on the RC menu once you have passed FL180 I believe. If not then at I believe FL270 is where the higher enroute altitude strata starts for center. If ATC gives you a climb too early you also should have an option Unable on the menu.Let me know if I'm incorrect. It has been awhile for me using version 4.3
May 27, 201016 yr I do that all the time Ronzie.when doing long distance high altitude flights in the 767,747 aircraft. It can take a long time before a B747 on a long route can get up to say FL370/390
May 28, 201016 yr Author You're correct that it can be requested by asking ATC, however...I want it to be a part of the FP, so ATC will tell me to climb to...let's say...FL340 and after an hour or so (according to the FP and the waypoint I'm at at that moment) ATC will let me climb further to FL360.When creating FP's with FSBuild one can use CLIMB/STEP profiles. It would be nice if certain CRZ altitudes would be linked to waypoints (which FSBuild does) and then let RC use those altitudes by itself 9without the PF asking for a higher ALT). A flight plan can be filed with expected step climbs at certain points (ie: in the remarks like "REQ FL350 AFTER XYZ" or in an ICAO flight plan "ABC UG721 HYX/M085F350 UG721 GUPPY UL331 HOPIX UR210 NAGIR/M085F370 Z552 YQN "), but the FL block in a flight plan is always the initial altitude that ATC will see. When more than one IFR altitude or flight level is desired along the route of flight, it is best to make a subsequent request direct to the controller. May 28, 201016 yr Author Really? Well...another day where I learned something new :(Something else: Is RC5 really gonna have some sort of taxi add-on where RC can help the simmer to taxi the right way (taxiways) and is helped finding the correct gate? Eric [FSX on Windows7 64-bit]

June 2, 201016 yr Author Without giving away too many v5 secrets I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the changes in this area.Thx :) Will we also be pleasantly pleased with voice controlled ATC (a combination of RC and SuperATC ro something like that)? Eric [FSX on Windows7 64-bit]
June 2, 201016 yr Author JD talked about that here a while ago...Yeah, after posting this message I strolled around the forums some more and did find the postings about the integration between SuperATC and RC. I was actually more hoping in a more VoxATC version in combination with RC5. High quality voice (32bit) and more interaction between pilot and ATC instead of activating commands by voice (which SuperATC does). Eric [FSX on Windows7 64-bit]
August 3, 201015 yr Without giving away too many v5 secrets I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the changes in this area...... that's a NO then... ?? !!! :( :( :( Can JD sound a little less terse in v5, when he's telling me off at the end of flight critique? It does upset me sometimes... B)
