Framerate problems

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm new to the avsim forums but i fly in MSFS for few years already.in the last month I started to encounter some framerate problems in FS9.when I fly and there are heavy clouds my FPS drops from 30 to something like 10-15, i didn't have this problem before.I tried to re-install the sim but it didn't do much and even with default clouds, plane and scenery i get bad FPS, when the weather is clear i get 30 FPS even with the most complex airplane and scenery.I also noticed that if I turn-off the AA the clouds doesn't cause framerate hit.I have an relatively old machine but it did the work in the past:Intel core2due E6550 2.33GHZnvidia 8600gt 512MB2GB ramruns on WIN7 ultimate 32biti will be glad if somebody would help me :( p.s. sorry if i've got some mistakes in my ENGLISH, it's not my mother language

Maybe there's something wrong with the video card? Try to check it to see if it's working properly. Check your drivers also.Just a wild guess

Turn off ground shadows and get some light DTX3 clouds. The DXT3 clouds will look a bit less detailed and impressive but will definitelly raise your FPS.There are some nice packages around in the library.Additionally you may think of reducing some settings in your FS9 Display menu.I mean things like cloud density and coverage, plus visibility limits. If that still does not help much, reduce autogen and/or AI traffic.

All I can say is to look around for a fs9 list of tweaks for the config file. Im not sure if it would do anything, but you shouldnt really have a problem running fs9 with that system, I can vouch for it because i run a very similar system, the only real diffrence between mine is I run win7 64bit, 4 gigs of ram, but the rest is virtually the same and my fs9 runs like butter.I have tweaked my fs9 config file thats why im suggesting it.

Hello,Strange you have problem running FS2004 with those PC specificationsMust be something else involved than the hardware ...Regards.bye.gifGus.

I have the same problem when I set AA combined 8x through nhancer. If I use multisampling, I have no problem at all. I also, downloaded the lightest clouds, but still the same. I should mention I only have a problem with cumulus clouds. My only solution was to use ASA evolution, where it has an option to reduce puffy clouds. My settings: All maxed out except for autogen at low. And I use WOAI.My Specs:Win XP SP3Intel core2due @2.964GB RamNvidia 9500 1GB

Is it possible that the Nhancer & Nvidia drivers are causing the problem?I have the latest one's installed.I don't think it's an hardware problem because the sim worked perfectly few months ago and there is no problem with games like cod6 or even crysis.if someone has an older NVIDIA driver (i have version 197.45) and the sim works with no problems for him please let me know what version you've got :(

Read the post from before a few days:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=286785BTW: have you tried any of the suggestions given above?

That is the problem. The latest nvidia drivers are not compatible with some functions of nHancer.

Which version did you install? And what about nhancer? did change the version? And one more question, do I need to uninstall the driver to install an older version?

Yes you have too uninstall the driver and then install the new one it depends what drivers you are using for nhancer older drivers only work with the older version of nhancer. I would personally try all the drivers possible and write down you frame rates and see which one give you the best performance I have in old 7800gs the best drivers for me in fs2004 are very old they are the 94.24 anything I use higher and my frames drop very bad.
