Reccomended Freeware Aircraft?

Featured Replies

I know that generally as a rule, freeware aircraft isn't as good as the payware, but at the moment I would like a new aircraft to learn to fly, anyone have any suggestions? I generally fly commercial airliners, but am willing to learn just about anything.

If you like a challenge, they don't come much tougher than the extremely realistic freebie SCS Tu-134 (which works in FSX) It is a fantastic simulation of the big Russian twin engined airliner. This aircraft could easily be payware, it is that good.It has no VC, but it does have a superb set of 2D panels and great sounds which were apparently recorded from the real thing. The panels are all in the genuine Russian Cyrillic labeling, so you'll need a manual, which I have added a link to. The aircraft itself can be found on several FS sites, or here if you like: http://www.filestube.com/05f4b8b621d4b31903ea/details.htmlYou'll need a manual for the thing, which can be found here, you can get a good idea of what it is like from a quick glance at that: http://ubsoft.org/tu134_panel.pdfThere are several repaints for this aircraft in the Avsim file library. Make sure you have plenty of time, this thing is a really complex simulation of the real aircraft. It's also great fun and it looks cool.Happy landings, Comrade.Al

If you're partial to some old tyme 'seat of your pants' flying as opposed to....modern stuff, the Tiger Moth by Ant is an absolute must. Why the guy doesn't sell it for 25Ws (whatevers) I cannot fathom.

Google will find a download in a trice! :(

The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

Anything by Tim "Piglet" Conrad. Payware quality stuff.Anything by Milton Shupe or Dino Cattaneo, also amazing stuff.

If you like commercial airliners then check out the Airbus planes for FSX by Thomas Ruth. Excellent stuff and you can fly Beluga, A340-5/600 etc. with nice VCs for nothing!

Anything by Thomas Ruth and Project Opensky (Just about covers the Airbii and Boeings with a smattering of the RJ's).
