June 25, 201015 yr What would really help you, is to get a copy of Chris Brady's 'The Boeing 737 Technical Manual' (he's the guy who runs the well-known 737.org site, and you can order it from his site). Some of the content to be found on the 737 site is in that book, but it is generally greatly expanded upon in the book, and there is a good deal of info on how to fly an NG properly in there, which is as valuable to simmers as it is to real-world 737 drivers.I used Chris Brady's book as a major source to check the veracity of Ariane's FSX 737 when reviewing it for Avsim. Interestingly, having studied that book a lot, I discovered that upon speaking to a few 737 pilots (also as part of the research for that review), I found that there were several subjects relating to the NG where I actually knew more about the NG's systems than the real-world 737 NG pilots did, simply by virtue of having read Chris Brady's book! I don't think there can be a better recommendation for a book than that if you are serious about simming with a 737. In my opinion, it is a 'must have' for 737 fans. Also worth looking at, would be some (or all if you are rich) of these titles: http://www.cockpitcompanion.com/servlet/th...IDES/CategoriesAgain, those books are aimed at people who fly or work on the real thing, but since the PMDG 737 NG is likely to be a good emulation of the real thing, they'll certainly come in handy just as the Technical Manual does.Al. June 25, 201015 yr From rj's link http://www.b737.org.uk/pilotnotes.htm be sure to check out the item on new checklists/procedures.While not heavy into systems this $30 US generic 700 manual by retired pilot Mike Ray might be of interest:http://www.utem.com/products/Flying_the_Boeing_700-7-1.htmlIt has quite a bit of practical information including such things as icing decisions, etc. It helped to get more quickly into the FMC settings expanding on what is in the PMDG manuals. It's available from Amazon as well.
June 25, 201015 yr I downloaded 747 manuels before I got the 747X and it was a help to me. Its always nice to know some things about the plane before you get it. It also makes the first few days more fun too since its not spent just reading the manuels. I know this is off topic but what versions of the NG will be coming out with NGX? I hope that there is a 700ER and 900ER along with the 800. Steven Herzberg, "I rather be flying"
