Whether to buy the 777?
I have a 4 year old system i7-930 and the 777 works great for me. I have done 15hr+ long haul in real time from one big airport to another multiple times with no issues. I was very surprised. With the 744X and NGX I have had some crashes here and there. Not many, but a few. The 777 I have yet to get one. It is my favorite airplane to fly. If you upgrade your system is it a must by, as simple as that.

Can you save a plane in distress ?
Perfect airplane in good weather? Yes. Many of us could be put into a level-D sim right now and would have a landing where everyone would survive, even handling the plane by hand. Serious issues with the airplane? Engine failure etc..? Hope I am not the only one that can help because then we got even bigger problems.

Traffic addon preference (& their impact on performance)
I think My Traffic might be best for you. It will more easily fill up your skies and it has a better variety in GA aircraft than UT2 and it will perform better too. If realistic schedules and nice airliners is not your priority then My Traffic is the way to go. Also UT2 has very little Cargo traffic and zero military traffic.

Traffic addon preference (& their impact on performance)
Take traffic 360 off your list. Don't even think about buying it. There are two AI addons and then the rest. UT2 and MyTraffic. I actually have both as MYTraffic has a lot more airlines but the schedules are very unrealistic as UT2 has most of the major airlines with very realistic schedules and better models. If you just care about the major airlines, for example doing most of your flying out of big airports in U.S., Canada and Western Europe than UT2 is a good. If you want random charter airlines, airlines from Africa and just want your skies to be filled with not a huge amount of FPS impact with ok models then MyTraffic is good. The both together using the MyTraffic UT2 schedule so I don't have interlacing airlines is very good.

My Time in a 777-200 Sim
Very cool report. It brings up that question which pops up a few times a year. You fly the PMDG NGX or 777 20 hours a month using real world weather and Airline SOP. Could you fly a real one? Well a Level-D sim is pretty much a real one, no pressure with real lives and no pressure with your own life but I honestly think many of us would be capable of flying one of these things. Really cool reading about it. I have a friend who works for Delta in Atlanta, he told me next time I am in Atlanta and have some free time he might be able to get me in a 777 sim. I would love that! Need to try to make some time to get to Atlanta.

Reverse Thrust Deployment
Happens every flight but I figured the 777 waits till the nose touches to give reverse.

Payware quality airport available as freeware
The Philadelphia one is fantastic. Ants Australia is good too. Not sure where it is, I think on flightsim but the main airport in Mauritius, ICAO: FIMP is really good too. Just flew there, one of the runways has a challenging approach too. Nice scenery for the whole island.

1900D TCAS
Just had the same issue. Lets see if the renaming thing works for me. Well I changed it to .off and now I have zero sounds inside the cockpit no clicks or anything. trying bak now. Same thing happened.

Invalid wx file format?
I had no issues before either. All I had to do was request wind data, all of a sudde now after three weeks of no issues the FMC says "invalid request"

Carenado B1900D Released
As long as glaring holes are fixed it is a good addon such as gear horn or at the very least a seatbelt sign. They put in a seatbelt sound. It is a shame that many bugs will remain though. From two real world 1900D pilots on the forums it seems like they have a fantastic base which they could make into something really special for the FS world. They already have a good idea what needs to be fixed for free on these forums.

Carenado B1900D Released
The 1900D is and has been one of my all time favorite airplanes since I was 12 years old. It is very hard for me to not purchase this plane. From the reviews it seems that it flys well but a decent amount of realistic simulations are missing including things as simple as the seatbelt sign and gear horn silence. I have never purchased a Carenado product before. I am not expecting PMDG or Majestic here but do they at least usually give a service pack or two to fix some of the more obvious issues? Or will it be what you get it what you get from initial release? Trying my best not to purchase just yet.

Second Air Test comparisons and further observations
I hope they see this and take your info and make the proper fixes. Maybe not to every single little thing but there seem to be some glaring holes in the airplane like the Seatbelt sign and gear horn silence. How they could miss this I have no clue but as long as it is fixed in a decent amount of time it is not a huge deal. Great input from a real B1900 driver. When I was younger and thinking about being an airline pilot one day the 1900 was always one of my favorite planes for the main reason I though the idea of flying around Florida and the Bahamas in one as a first job would be awesome. I am not sure if I am going to purchase it with these issues. Just hope they fix some of the major missing pieces. But your comment of it being almost Majestic level is a big seller. Just hope they can get there because this would be a major seller and a big move for the brand.

Where Is Your 777 Now?
Well sadly back in MIA, her home base. I have an easier semester with my last year of grad school so I may take her out on some weekend flights. Starting December 16th with the 777 I flew these flights with zero issues on my 3 year old system all in real time: MIA-LAX 5hr LAX-AKL- 12:30hr AKL-HKG 10hr HKG-IAD 14:30hr SEA-SIN 16:14hr HKG-HNL 8:30hr HNL-HKG 10hr HKG-LOS 14hr LOS-LNU 3hr LNU-CPT 2:40hr CPT-JNB: 1hr JNB-MRU: 3:30hr MRU-JNB: 3:30hr JNB-MIA: 15hr What a plane. I said this for the NGX and I will now say it for the 777 after all those flights. Best addon every produced for Flight Simulator. Excited to get the 300ER and of course the 747 remake. If only PMDG could make every airliner ever made!

Where Is Your 777 Now?
In the past 10 days I have flow all in real time: MIA-LAX-AKL-HKG-IAD SEA-SIN. SEA-SIN was 16hr and 14mins with the headwinds. Didnt even need to fill her up even with a full load! Pretty awesome flying 16hrs, no issues what so ever so far. I have planned for the next two weeks: SIN-HKG-HNL-HKG-BCN-LHR-JNB-FIMP-JNB-MIA If I finish these flights without any computer issues I am going to have to write a letter to PMDG. So I'm short my 777 is sitting in SIN getting ready to go to HKG in the next two days for the shortest 777 flight I would have done so far.

Question: Which Panel State
Assuming the aircraft had an overnight stay at the airport it would be the Long Turnaround state IMO. Pilots will almost never find a cold and dark. That is usually what Maintenece crews deal with. Planes like the 777 do t have much down time unless in for Maintenece and they are the ones who taxi/tow the plane to and from the gate for maintence. They would leave it fairly ready to go with the battery on, GPU hooked up for the next flight.

777-200LR Seating Configuration
The config PMDG has the LR is does not carry many passengers that's for sure. I think its around 272? I too was wondering if they will update to allow the change of the configuration of the airplane at least from 3 class to 2 class. Hope to see this in the 777-300ER with 1 class, 2 class and 3 class possibilities.

500 hours later with the PMDG 777...
Nice review. I have not flown it that much yet. Only have had it for 12 days but my flights with it so far have been nothing be great. I have a 3 year old PC, middle of the line system and my flights have not had a crash yet nor bad performance. I have done, 5, 12, 10 and 15 hour non-stop real time flights. I love the save the flight automatically saves the cockpit feature. I have the plane pause on TOD and I always save the flight before decent incase of a crash. I also randomly save it a few times in the flight. Worst case it crashes and I either just fly another day or load it back up and speed up time. No biggie. I am expecting some issues at some point but so far my FPS have been better in the 777 than the NGX.

Why is the PMDG B772 Worth the Price?
I guess you are right that you can make the 777 less automated, but that's not the way the airplane is suppose to be flown. In the 777 all I need to do is put everything on auto/on turn the fuel control switches on and start both engines. In the NGX you need to change the bleeds, watch N2, do one engine at a time and one fuel control switch at a time. There is a lot more button switching, preflight preparing etc.. In the NGX. Both are different and I really enjoy both aircraft a lot. To the OP for what you want to use the 777 for I would reccomend maybe not getting it. It's a long haul airliner. Not saying you ned to fly long haul but I couldn't imagine flying the 777 on 1hr trips all day. It's a very automated airplane and is not really meant to be flown on circuits etc.. The auto throttle is not even meant to be turned off. My shortest flight has been 5hr MIA-LAX longest almost 15hrs! HKG-IAD. I don't have a new top if the line system, don't OC my processor and so far in my 3 10hr+ flights no performance issues yet. So do I think it is worth $90? Absolutely. It's the best Addon I have gotten yet with the NGX and Dash-8-400 in close 2nd and 3rd. But I love long haul flying, I like setting up the airplane in a long turn needing to accomplish all the preflight task involved with planning a flight across the ocean or the North Pole. But that's because it is great for what I enjoy doing. I wouldn't buy it to fly short legs and set it up on the active ready to go.

The T7 on my low-end system, and a big Thank You to PMDG
I agree. I have been very happy so far with the 777. I have a PC which was close to top of the line in 2010. i7, 5780 vid card 1gb, etc.. No over clock or anything and after following the tips on the intro, especially only using the scenary files I need performance has been good even with a good amount of AI traffic and Active Sky Next weather. So far it has been awesome! Performance has been good, no crashes. I have flown all in real time: MIA-LAX 5hr LAX-AKL 12hr AKL-HKG 10hr HKG-IAD 14.5hr By now from what I read I was expecting some type of crash on these flights but they have gone perfectly and the airplane is just phenomenal. I'm sure I will get some spots of low FPS and a crash but so far I can't complain. Great airplane for FS. I think some people just ask too much from their computers. I'm at moderate levels of graphics with some pay ware scenary but not much photoreal stuff. But AI traffic is UT-2 and MTX.

First Impression/Quick Questions.
First off, congrats to PMDG for a great product. I have only done two complete flights to far. MIA-LAX and LAX-AKL but both have been great. Love the airplane and once again PMDG has made the best addon I have ever seen. I do have some questions though. I was happy to not have any issues on a 13 hour real time flight on LAX-AKL. FPS was good for my system so far too. That being said I feel like my PC got a bit warmer than usual which is expected. If I wanted to shut down for an hour and save the flight all I have to do is go to the FSX save flight and the 777 will automatically save my panel state under the same name? As a general question about my PC being warm, being that the 777 is probably the most intense software my computer runs with FSX I have a liquid cooled system. First I have not had any maintenance on it. Anyone suggest I get the cooling system checked out? Refilled? Second for long haul flights I prefer real-time even if I am not at my pc the whole time. Would setting the airplane in the "2d" cockpit view with no instruments make it easier on the PC? Or is that just a silly idea? Those are the only questions I have. Next up is to learn the autoland procedure. Love the autocrusie system for the long hauls, only suggestion is maybe implement the system to also turn off the fuel tanks when they get empty. Great plane. Great product, and hop to be getting many more flights out of the 777.

Active Sky Next with the 777!
Well I have the demo and WOW is all I can say. First took the NGX on LAX-SLC-LAX. LAX had a marine layer, the weather ATIS and Flight Briefing are pure awesome. Though two of the voices are difficult to understand/hear. But Landed in SLC with low visibility as it was the morning. Took off about 45mins later and the sun burned a lot of the fog away. It was just awesome. I have a 3 year old i7 system so I take it easy. Only 5 cloud layers 70-80 mile cloud draw and visibility. Had zero performance hits from what I could tell. Landings in LAX are usually FPS heavy for me and it was the same, no big issues at all with ASN or without. I then took my 777 on its first long haul. LAX-AKL. Well it was great. Listening to the weather change on the radios was great. Exctied to finally have real weather in the sim will be making the final purchase soon! Great idea having a full demo out there. Without it, not sure I would make this purchase.

Active Sky Next with the 777!
This all sounds great. Perfect timing for me too. Hoping for good results when I download the demo this weekend. After downloading the 777 of course Almost time to fly. Just need to finish this miserable paper on Antitrust Laws.

Active Sky Next with the 777!
Did not know there was a demo. Will certainly try it out with 777 and NGX and see how it goes. Hoping for the best. Would be GREAT to have some good weather simulation finally in my FSX.

Active Sky Next with the 777!
I have been "stuck" with default weather forever. Does this add in updated real weather to FS? How is it on the frames? My PC is decent but its no super machine. Can I get the updated weather without using Frame Rate killing weather textures? I have been thinking about getting real weather soon for a while now just don't know which program to get.

would pmdg 777 work on my pc?
You can probably get something very decent in the $1500 range. My PC is already 3 years old but it runs FSX pretty well, no major problems running the NGX, don't have the 777 yet. My PC cost me $1400 built and shipped in 2010. So if you don't want top of the line something like mine with three year old technology would probably be closer to $1,000. I would not go that route though. Spend the extra money and get something good. I would say $1500-$1600 can get nice machine already built. If you know how to build the PC yourself you can save more.
