  1. Hello, I created an Excel spreadsheet to convert a list of coordinates into a rte file with costum waypoints. A first test from EDDM to EDLP in the NGX worked, but an other flight plan from EDDM to ENKR is not readable ("Destination Airport not found in rte file") The destination airport at the end of the unreadable rte file: ENKR 1 - 1 N 69.72500 E 29.88780 282 ----- 0 0 1 282 - -1000000 -1000000 Full EDDM-ENKR rte is here The working EDDM-EDLP rte is here Is there any documentation of the rte format available?
  2. Flight no. 2: Even better this time. Final approach was very smooth. It looks like too fast throttle movements caused the oscillations I had on the last flight.
  3. Calibration is step #1 on my checklist. Even with the two Joysticks I use, it takes less than a minute. If you hit the calibrate button in the FSX controls settings, it does open the normal windows calibration. I even calibrate in FSX before I use other games, as the Logitech driver removes the calibration from the windows control panel. I just completed another test flight and am more and more getting used to the trim, but it's definitely not the same as in a Cessna or the 737 for me. I flew the approach as I do it with the NGX (AP and AT are off), trim for VAPP and then (try to) stay on the glideslope by using throttle. The plane seems to pitch up and down every few seconds (Possibly caused by FSX dynamic weather, turbulences or thermals? Will try without next time. ASN was off for this test.), to stay on the glideslope I sometimes have to move the throttle to 100% or back to idle. I was on the glideslope down to 100 feet, never had a better approach before. Do I use the correct technique? Pitch for speed and throttle for altitude? There seems to be a lot of discussion about that, even amongst real world pilots. And would switching off the Primary Flight Computers to fly in direct law be allowed in normal real life operations? (i.e. could an airline write it is its SOPs?)
  4. Yep, that's right, you can post the next one.
  5. Ok, I hope this isn't too hard...
  6. Hmm, looks like a station on the coast. McMurdo?
  7. Almost looks like Meigs Field, Chicago to me. Almost... but its definitely somewhere else...
  8. It happended to me in all CDUs, seems to be unrelated.
  9. I assigned CTRL + SHIFT + 1 to 8 to the L and R doors and 9 and 0 to the cargo doors and keep my fingers away from the door page for now. Also quite useful if I need the third CDU for other stuff, I just hit the keys if GSX is asking for a door.
  10. First a BOX tour around EDDV, then the PMDG tutorial, now BER from EDDT via LOWI-EDDK-EDLP-EDDW-ENVA to KPHL, luckily saved on approach as I CTDed when hitting TO/GA after floating for half of the runway length at KPHL. Now I'm sitting at the ramp in EDDK to fly 20 hours to NZAA. I'm planning to start at the maximum failure and service-based failure rate and the turn it down step-by-step everytime I have to divert or end up disabled on the destination runway. If anyone knows where the FDX T7 (N852FD) in my avatar came from to EDDK and departed to on September 22nd 2013 I'd be very happy to know it to be able to refly it. Flighaware has no data.
  11. My PMDG "career" has started nearly 1.5 years ago, it's about time for this post. I started of with the JS41, enjoying it but soon feeling I need a plane I often fly with as passenger, so I soon got the NGX, followed by the expansion pack. As I felt that I want to get into heavies too, the MD11 joined the fleet. I fly all of them a lot, and last week I bought the 777. Why not? If it doesn't work I have it ready for better times when I have a decent desktop. But now, after turning down a few settings I totally enjoy it. None of the other planes gave me the feeling of flying a large plane and "being there". I already flew her into the most complex scenery I have, Aerosofts Approaching LOWI, and landed without problems. FPS on final approach was just above 10, but stutter-free, making good hand flying possible. This was certainly better than with the NGX, where I had to switch to the 2D panel. On important thing to note is that I'm not a "HD" simmer. I have no problem with a few "blurries", low autogen settings and default sceneries and clouds. If you can think like that as well and have a similar system as me, I'd say go for it. Hope this helps some people who are unsure about getting the Triple Seven  . Thank you PMDG for giving me such a great time with your products. I wish you nice holidays, merry Christmas, and a happy new year, hopefully beginning with releasing the "real" (sorry about that, I just prefer long airplanes) 777 when it's ready.
  12. I just jumped into it, and it worked. If I do not understand something, I just take a look at the PDF after landing. The Quick Start Guide in the PDF should be enough to start flying. I never had to reinstall, but there should be no problems.
