I'm not Geof, but I'll answer the questions. The Mega Scenery Earth web site claims to be using 1 and 2 foot source material. This is either a gross error or misleading advertising. They will be using 1 or 2 meter source. Sim-Savvy uses 1 meter, downsampled to two meter resolution. If you wish to fly in the PNW you would need to choose which scenery you wanted to display. FSX gives priority to photo based scenery, so to enjoy the FTX work you would need to disable the Washington and Oregon scenery prior to flying. If you wanted the photo scenery to show, leave it all active. There are more specific examples/details regarding the PNW, but the generalized answer would be choose one or the other before your flight..
Thank you for your response. But for the technically challenged, does this mean the appearance of Sim-Savvy and MegaSceneryEarth are about the same? Thank you for your explanation of how to "toggle" between PNW and Sim-Savvy. Does your comment about disabling the Washington and Oregon Scenery to use FTX PNW mean that Sim-Savvy photo scenery is divided into states in the Scenery Library? Can't remember if MegaSceneryEarth has seasons or not?
Hi Geof ...Went to the site and that is impressive ... FINALLY Indiana!! Yea!! Question ... How does the resolution compare with Megascenery Earth and is it easily layered below things like FTX PNW, etc.Hope you are well ... feel free to answer by PM if you prefer. Steve
HiI am not Geoff...If you want to find out what Indiana looks like in Simsavvy, Take a look at this: Bloomington, Martinsville and Indianapolis. Each state can be loaded separately into FSX with the scenery manager.

For those with the product, can I make a request for a screenshot or two? Vermont - The areas near B06 (Basin Harbor) and up north near VT46 (Northern Lights)I picked up the RI demo edition, and there's a big spankin' cloud right on the approach end of Rwy 16 at KPVD. Are there many clouds on the images in total, or was this a true anomaly? Your input is appreciated!-Greg

I can't speak for the Mega Scenery Earth product, as to what level of source is used in each particular area.On my copy of the Sim-Savvy product there are separate folders for each state, I only have the western 11 states. Each state would be added to the scenery library in FSX, which then allows it to be turned on or off at your discretion.

Here are two shots of your requests-I think they illustrate what can be good and bad about this type of scenery. The second shot shows that that there is some type of boundry where the data must be from different sources-therefore the water is a patchwork and even a strange color to the right of the water. Also the fsx default airport is off and the real one looks so much more real.....Is there an occasional area like this-yes. Will you find a cloud or two-not often but they do exist. Then there are millions of miles that look stellar. There are a few states that look especially great (Vermont is one to me except where these boundries are -and then there are some that are not quite as good).

Hi GregIn reply to your PM, I took those screnshots for you : B06, VT46, KLKP Lake placid, KMMK.Take care

Thanks, Geof and YG3...The shots confirm to me that the product looks solid and thoroughly enjoyable, but unfortunately Geof's shot on Lake Champlain between VT and NY is the part that will probably prevent me from sealing the deal. It's one thing to have photo scenery anomalies such as incongruous photo source material scattered about the country, but it's quite another to have that boundary slice right through one of the areas you fly the most in. That VT/NY border, especially along the lake, is a key destination for me, and I'm afraid it will just be too jarring to fully enjoy. I was so close to making that purchase, too. Thanks again - I appreciate it immensely,-Greg

I don't think that those small mismatched patches are an issue; When airborne, you just see them for a short period of time. Every square mile can't be perfect. Google earth is not perfect too.

I have all the photosceneries available for FSX ( literally!!) and I can safely say that NONE of them are blemish free. There are always areas where the source images are not so good etc, but if you let that turn you off the whole experience then you are definitely missing out badly. And many cost much more than Larry's scenery. As said, I cant beleive that only 20 people have brought his product, its a cryin shame as he has worked so hard on it. I know Larry is releasing individual states soon, so you wont have to shell out the whole $200 in one hit. By one and see, california is great, so is New Mexico, washington and Oregon very nice, Montana is cool, honestly you cant go wrong.Cheers, mark
