Hi AllI am posting to let the simmers know about the best inexpensive photo scenery ever.SIMAVVY,ok i suppose lots of you have read about it but have not taken the plunge, well let me convince you that this is the best purchase you will ever make,Iam a 79 year old simmer and have used flight sims for 6 years and this product has brought me more pleasure than any other and i have bought plenty.some articles written say certain states ar not as good as others, this also applies to other photo sceneries that are so expensive very few could hope to get a fraction of what you get with this product ,look into the web page and what you see is what you getwww.simsavvy .comDont get me wrong the poorer states that are few are far from bad and i am not dissapointed with any of them ,there are some that are brilliant to name only a couple ,washington and virginiaNow what urged me to post was i heard from Larry the author informing me my next batch of states are in the post and i was informed that he has upto now got 20 customers ,this to me was upsetting and dissapointing when i think ofthe hard work and effort he must have put into it he deserves much better and is hardley encouraging for him.He is not in it to make lots of money this is reflected by the price,i would not be pushing this if i though it was a bad investment my post will hopefully give him more sales and encouragement ,and a big thankyou for a brilliant productgive him a go you wont be dissapointedhave a good day Don

Don-I agree completely. I just got my North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina usb drive today in the mail. To think we are getting the whole United States for the one time price is a bargain. Like you said, there are some areas that are a little rough but where it is good it is breathtaking. I never expected to get the whole country when I bought this product, and this selfless service he is doing is beyond the call of duty. No fuss, and no hours of downloading.20 customers really is sad..

HiI was one of the first custommers of Simsavvy. Since I bought it 9 months ago, I have flown over this scenery exclusively. This is an outstanding product. The best compromise between price/size/area coverage/performance impact/quality.Most states are breathtaking. I enjoy them very much. Yesterday I flew over new mexico: fantastic. When I bought it , there were 11 western states. Without asking for it , I have received most of the eastern states for free, the last ones are in the pipe. It makes a total of 34 states for the price of 11!!!!No need to download, installation is very easy, disk size is minimal, 2m resolution, no blurries, zero impact on fps: perfectHighly recommended :( Over Vermont and over new York

How large of a hard drive needed to hold all this? Thanks,Alex

The Western U.S. ships on a 500gb external HD, of which approx. 155gb is used. Leaves plenty of extra space for the east coast files and even other stuff you might want to backup.

As a photo scenery goes the product looks good. I am not frightened of the data size, these days terabite drives are easily affordable for serious simmers.I do have photo scenery that I turn on and off in my collection.I do however think that the ORBX folks have the best scenery and approach to making the sim a full emerion product. We each have our own preferences, I am preferring to be low and slow, VFR and GA airports and once and a while through in a heavy iron for variety. If your flying a 30,000' then photoscenery can really work. PNW FTX is by far, IMOP the best at delivering a "feels real" experience.Mostly though I like 3D objects and the 3D effect of forests and ground terrain that you miss with photo scenery unless it is populated/annotated.While I certainly like looking at the real world from the air, I will save my money for more FTX.cheers.

Hi,What I found with this type of scenery, though excellent, is that after a while you have flown everywhere. I have glacier bay and tongass fjords and quickly knew every place. So I gave up flying there. With simsavvy you get 2 third of the US and probably the whole country somewhere down the line. I will have never flown everywhere by the time I am dead :( The other aspect that bothers me is that you can't miss the repetitive textures. I prefer when it is real.It is a matter of personal taste of course.Take care. Happy flying.

Hey, guysI just can't seem to get any of the states to load, either from the supplied hard drive or from my C: drive. Any suggestions?

Hi,Do the states show in the scenery manager?Did you tick the state you want to fly over in the FSX scenery manager? What is your operating system?Do you have this problem with other scenery add ons?

Hi Geof ...Went to the site and that is impressive ... FINALLY Indiana!! Yea!! Question ... How does the resolution compare with Megascenery Earth and is it easily layered below things like FTX PNW, etc.Hope you are well ... feel free to answer by PM if you prefer. Steve

I'm not Geof, but I'll answer the questions. The Mega Scenery Earth web site claims to be using 1 and 2 foot source material. This is either a gross error or misleading advertising. They will be using 1 or 2 meter source. Sim-Savvy uses 1 meter, downsampled to two meter resolution. If you wish to fly in the PNW you would need to choose which scenery you wanted to display. FSX gives priority to photo based scenery, so to enjoy the FTX work you would need to disable the Washington and Oregon scenery prior to flying. If you wanted the photo scenery to show, leave it all active. There are more specific examples/details regarding the PNW, but the generalized answer would be choose one or the other before your flight..

Compared to PNW the areas covered by Glacier Bay and Togass Fjords are very tiny. I own PNW since March and have only explored a small part of it yet, although I'm flying there almost daily.I think it will take over a year until one has been at every of the more than 400 included enhanced airports and airfields. What I do not like about photoreal sceneries are the completely unrealistic looking washed out colours and the lack of seasons.Wolfgang
