July 15, 201015 yr http://www.faa.gov/pilots/training/firc/me..._flt_review.pdfThanks. Now the question is, what will pilots be told when giving clearance to taxi to the active if "taxi to" is not going to be use. Roll along via taxiway x alongside runway X/XX? :D Supporter GhostRecon.net | AGgReSsion WhiteKnight77's Place Mike Shannon

July 15, 201015 yr Very extensive taxi instructions with every runway to be crossed..pens better be in hands.I've noticed this already being practiced. Especially at KCLT. Even Winston Salem (Smith Reynolds) -near by- have begun these new runway crossing instructions. The controller caught himself after rattling off the typical simple taxi to the runway instruction (crossing one active runway) and it was an ear full. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

The FAA has changed the term position and hold to conform with ICAO standards and will use the phrase Line Up and Wait effective September 30th 2010!Ah, screw that. I'm still keeping position and hold. I've been helping a friend with getting to class for the past five weeks, and every time we get to a crossing where I have to push the button to trigger the walk signal, I always tell her to position and hold. No use in changing that now. :( :( Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.

Roll along via taxiway x alongside runway X/XX? Runway XX, Taxi Via XXX. I have barely noticed the new phraseology changes. I don't think there is going to be much confusion about this.Very extensive taxi instructions with every runway to be crossed..pens better be in hands.I love operating out of a single runway airport. July 23, 201015 yr I love operating out of a single runway airport. No runway crossings to worry about!Mm....not necessarily. Depends where you are. There could be the possibility that you'd have to cross the active runway just to get to....well....the active runway. July 24, 201015 yr Runway XX, Taxi Via XXX.I understood the change to mean that "Taxi to runway YY" will not be used. The UK phraseology (ICAO?) is "Taxi holding point X runway YY". A separate instruction "Line up" is used to position the aircraft on the runway for departure. "Line up and wait" is used to line-up an aircraft for departure before conditions allow take-off - for example if another aircraft will take off first from an intermediate point. Take-off clearance is always issued by itself as a separate transmission using the phrase "Cleared for take-off". Gerry Howard
