July 15, 201015 yr Hi,I'm a long time user of both AS6.5 and ASE.Since ASE gave me a lot of issues since it was released more than 18 months ago, recently I moved back to AS6.5.Unfortunately AS6.5 also has some issues now: the METAR cycles are not in sync with real world (anymore?)I guess it's time to look for an alternative, if any...I do have REX.Is anyone using REX WX application? Or is there an other good alternative? July 16, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hi Egbert,Can you advise if your version of REX is up-to-date with the latest service packs? Thanks,Tim Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
July 16, 201015 yr Hi Tim,Sorry to butt in on this thread, but I had never heard of your product before and after viewing your www site, wanted to check out your forums. I registered, as required, and received the email with the activiation code. However, when I click on the link it takes me to a "resend activation code" page. The link to click on if there is activation problems takes me to the same page. How do I go about getting my account activated? Thanks,ScottKJMS (or thereabouts) "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
July 16, 201015 yr I just ran a quick test of an AS 6.5 download real weather and the METAR matched perfectly.I have not had weather sync issues with AS6.5. What I do is download the archived GMT weather for the time of my flight. (I don't use system time but local airport time adjusted for GMT so the weather environment matches the flight take-off hour wherever it is.) The departure weather and arrival weather matches the METARS and enroute winds aloft follow the processed flight plan so I don't have any weather sync problems. For a planner I use FSBuild which connects to AS 6.5 for winds aloft for its fuel planning functions. Perhaps one of your options needs tweaking. Pay attention to avoiding setting a global weather environment because that sets the entire FS global weather environment to the surface weather at your current aircraft present position throughout your flight. This would make your arrival AI runway use and arrival ATIS out of sync. With a global setting they will constantly change as you approach the airport causing possibly AI stable pattern difficulties.
July 16, 201015 yr Unfortunately AS6.5 also has some issues now: the METAR cycles are not in sync with real world (anymore?)i have not seen any problems with AS6.5's data. right on, within the limits of real-world updating and what i see outside my home's windows: i can see/listen to the approach and departure aircraft for KSEA, KRNT and KBFI.-- D.
