July 16, 201015 yr Good day allI wonder if any of you could guide to the right path, I had a problem with my go flight mcppro unit, and another one was shipped out to me, by Go-flight due to this the new unit needs to be activated with the driver software, the problem is how do I go about this?as it will have a different serial code, from the orignal one PMDG are very poor in their support, saying they they had issues with the developer of the drivers and his has now parted with the company. So all of us that have replaced units, can't get the driver working for the PMDG 737 in FS9.Hopfully I can get it working again, and you great Chaps/ Lases here can point out where I can get the stuff, to get the unit fired up again and maybe prevent it from becoming a doorstop.Great support was given from the Flight Sim lads as they will help me out with the drivers for FSX. :( I know we in the flight sim community provide great support for all, and it is something we can be proud of. but PMDG service is a little bit poor me thinks. :( Rich B
July 16, 201015 yr Rich,You nmeed to contact FlightSimLabs and request they activate your MCPPRO with the new serial number. Have GoFlight confirm the change in serial number to FlightSimLabs.Cheeers,- jahman.
July 16, 201015 yr Hi jahmamI contacted flightsims labs and they was very helpful, but as I got the orignal driver from PMDG and not them ,alas for fs9 they can't help me,but will do with fsx.I know it's a bit of a weird problem, I have been looking at the open cockpits stuff and not sure if that will work. It,s driving me a bit mad, trying to sort it all out.Fsx will I am sure be ok , but I will have to get 747 fsx by PMDG at more expence , which would have got but not just yet.Rich B
July 16, 201015 yr HelloThat is absolutely shocking, there is no way that you as a customer should lose out because of a spat between PMDG and FlightSimlabs aka Lefteris. You bought the driver software from PMDG it is up to them by whatever means available to them to make good your purchase. If you have the original driver software check the licence agreement/EULA or whatever it was called for a specific exclusion for transferring the licence to a replacement Goflight unit.If no exclusion exists then you have a good case. You presumably were not advised by PMDG at the time of purchase that if they ever had a hissy fit with an employee that your contract and expectations of continued reasonable support would fly out of the door along with the departing developer.Sue both of them.
July 17, 201015 yr Sue both of them.LOL...now thats the cheap solution.Sorry mad dog, couldn't help myself. :(
July 17, 201015 yr HelloYes reading it again it is a bit extreme, but this was not a cheap driver when released it was somewhere around $99.Now what should have happened when PMDG and Lefteris parted company was for a workable solution to be found that would not impact on the customer. If you bought a car from a ford franchise and that franchise stopped selling fords and sold toyotas instead, chances are good that they would still service your ford as a valued customer no matter how acrimonious their split from the ford network.Failing that then you would be safe in the knowledge that Ford would stand behind their product. No contrast that to the way some flight sim developers do business. When things are going well they behave as if they are actual bricks and mortar mini corporationsWhen things get rough they throw their toys and they are just some guys in their bedrooms with a nice websitewho suddenly cant afford to offer much in the way of support because "no one gets rich developing addons".In the Uk we have the small claims court and it is not an expensive process to pursue companies that do not honour their agreements.
July 19, 201015 yr Poor customer support is one of the reasons why I refuse to buy PMDG products anymore, no matter how good they are, they are the worst in the business when it comes to licensing and refunds etc. Cheers, Andy.
July 21, 201015 yr Poor customer support is one of the reasons why I refuse to buy PMDG products anymore, no matter how good they are, they are the worst in the business when it comes to licensing and refunds etc.Thats true , and it has made me think, do I get their Programes, or are there a better teams out there ? from the looks of what support they give there is.So if anyone from PMDG happens to read this link , come get a grip, face up to your customers, and you might win a few back. but people read reviews on the forums all the time, and feedback goes a long way.Bad feedback goes a lot further but faster.so PMDG GET IT SORTED ..... :( pmdg= paid money don't get s&*% (support back ) I rest my case M'LUD.
July 29, 201015 yr Juz what a task , trying to get the drivers sorted out , looked at so many web pages and sites now.
August 9, 201015 yr Good day allI wonder if any of you could guide to the right path, I had a problem with my go flight mcppro unit, and another one was shipped out to me, by Go-flight due to this the new unit needs to be activated with the driver software, the problem is how do I go about this?as it will have a different serial code, from the orignal oneRich BRich,I thought PMDG was continuing to provide limited support to those who already had the original FS9 interface driver from them even though they stopped selling it. This presumably would include situations such as yours. Have you tried to contact PMDG support directly? http://www.precisionmanuals.com/pages/support.html An alternative you might consider is asking GoFlight if they will reprogram your replacement unit with the original serial number. They were kind enought to do that for me when I fouled up a firmware upgrade. Would mean sending it back to them.Claude Regards, Claude Franklin
