August 3, 201015 yr Help! After trying many times to fix this, I keep seeing weird spiral things in FSX they seem like thermals, but are visible. I have UTX, GEX, REX, Shockwave lights Redux, Flight Replicas Super Cub, IRIS Pro Diamond DA-40 XLS, and Flight 1 Cirrus SR-22, if it helps.
August 3, 201015 yr There is an option in your fsx settings, something like shows thermals and updrafts(I forget), uncheck that box
August 4, 201015 yr I believe those ideed may be visualizations of thermals. As suggested in another reply, check your settings - under Settings/Display.
August 4, 201015 yr Ha Ha I have one of those stupid spiral things on the Approach to KMMV runway 26. 1/4 mile out and my Bonanza is taking off like the Goodyear blimp on crack. Should make the "Worlds deadliest Approaches" on the History channel. :( Had to kill the thermal switch.

Better tick the "disable turbulence" or something like that in fsx menu.
August 4, 201015 yr For the most part, thermals in FSX are of the "autogen" variety, defined based on landclass in the file ThermalDescriptions.xml. Rename that to turn them off.scott s..
August 6, 201015 yr I have my setting to "Natural". That way the thermals are retained & if you keep your eyes peeled you can occasionally spot a couple of eagles soaring within them. Can be very hard to see & you have to be at a similair altitude to spot them.
