Reccomended 777?

Featured Replies

At the time I got the wilco 777 it was the only one I saw, and I have never really learned how to fly it, althoug I'd like to start, but now I was wondering if there were any other 777s out there that were out there to look at purchasing or downloading if I don't like the wilco?

There are currently nothing spectacular. I own the Wilco (not so good but it works), the Aerosim (Works well but Simple) and the POSKY (looks good, works ok but really simplified). I would hold out for the PMDG 777 that is coming out soonish--(within a year) and should be spectacular (as most of the work PMDG does). Until then you are pretty much stuck with the previous three..

Didn't know there was a PMDG 777 coming, now I need to learn the MD11 I have to prepare
Actually the PMDG B747 would probably be more helpful - the MD11 is more like an Airbus than a Boeing.

Until PMDG delivers their 777 you'll have to settle with the ones by Project Open Sky. One of the hardest aircraft to install (I believe this is POSKY's hardest!) but is fairly detailed in the cockpits and is far more accurate than that of the Wilco models. The Wilco model was too much 2D-ed in the FSX version, and basically had a lot of bugs FeelThere has yet to patch right now.Dave

Oooh, with pleasure! And with REX, too! Dave

The AeroSim Triple Seven is currently the best one you'll find for FSX, but it is a 'lite' simulation, so that means some work needs to be done in terms of modding it if you want it to be truly realistic. I've done that with mine, by adding Radar, an upgraded FMC with LNAV and VNAV, an improved PFD, ACARS capability, terrain radar, and improved sounds. Doing all that makes it very nice of course, and far more authentic, but it is quite a shopping list of commercial add-ons that are necessary in order to perform such surgery, so it is only an economically viable solution if you already have many of those things, or envisage doing that kind of thing to a few 'lite' aircraft to make them more realistic.Specifically, I added to mine: the ISG Smiths FMC, VNAV, LNAV and PFD, the FSFK ACARS, the CS Weather Radar, the DBS Profile Radar, and the TSS B777 GE engine sound set, but the only thing I had to buy, other than the 777 itself (since I already had everything else), was the TSS sound set, so it wasn't really an especially expensive operation. If you didn't have all that stuff already however, it could of course become a costly exercise, although that is slightly offset by the fact that you actually get some add-on scenery with the AeroSim Triple Seven too, that being Shirojishima Airport (RORS), which is quite nicely modeled and an unusual destination to fly to in FSX.Other things you could add are an improved overhead (of which there are a few kicking about), but I felt that was unecessary, since the functionality the Aerosim 777 has by default is enough to suit me personally, although if you are one of those types who insists on cranking the aircraft up from a completely dead state (which I am not, since I want to fly it, not perform maintenance on it LOL), you'd want to look into that too. Here is a piccy of the VC of mine with all that stuff done to it:777panelconfig.jpgAl

Al,Could you post or send the panel.cfg you have for that--I would like to set my AeroSim 777 with those features and would like to see yours as reference. Thanks in advance.

It's currently in 'mid-tweak' at the moment for the 2D pop ups, so don't be surprised to see some pop up window references not completed, but even so, this should be enough to give you what you want, since all the VC gauge stuff I did is unchanged. The important ones to look at are all the gauges with 'ISG1!' at the start of them, since they are the ones that appear in the VC (I have made that section bold type, so you know what to look for):// Panel Configuration file// BOEING 777-200// Copyright © 2007 AeroSim Co.,Ltd. Nope. The VC textures could have been better. All of those features are applicable on the POSKY 777, and they just look bettter there. Dave.

Tried it--except for the autopilot panel on the VC the VC is totally non functional. I do use the LR though but it was a PAIN to set up and you are not going to get any assistance from the POSKY people. I want more out of a 777. That's why I bought and tried the Wilco, bought and tried the Aerosim.edit....AND wait feverishly for the PMDG offering because I know my search will end and I can remove the Aerosim, Wilco and POSKY at that point.
