August 16, 201015 yr Cheesy, indeed. I retired from ARTCC after 28 years and I've seen and been involved in my share of emergencies, including aircraft just disappearing from the scope. It was never like what was portrayed in the film. Controllers had other things on their mind than demonstrating their acting ability. Guess that's the way it always is in film, which is why I haven't been to a movie in 35 years.Bob
August 16, 201015 yr Commercial Member You're absolutely right about that...I didnt make it past the, "crash." I thought when the vectored that little prop away from the emergency that the prop was going to hit another plane...therefore making it all his fault... which I thought was the premise...but I didnt watch to found out...too fake. August 16, 201015 yr Author Yeah, they sort of crammed everything that could go wrong and then some in one nights work, that's Hollywood for you, but I thought it depicted the problems with the equipment, weather and stress these people are under quite well. I remember a few nights flying out of Boston back in the 90's, when New York TRACON went down because of equipment failure. Hopefully they don't still use vacuum Tubes, but they still did back then. (Maybe they do knowing the FAA!) Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
