August 20, 201015 yr I finally reinstalled FSX on my somewhat modified and upgraded rig. To my great delight I am now able to get a steady 24 FPS with a resolution of 1680*1052*32. With FSX Acceleration, Ground Environment X, and Real Environment Extreme installed, it is now truly exciting to fly again! The animations are silky smooth, and the textures are crisp as I never have seen it before. However, I've come across one issue: Whenever flying in Norway, frame rates drops from a steady 24 to erratic changes from as low as 9 to 18: The simulator is suffering… Something is very wrong, as the simulator will work flawlessly and beautifully in any other part of the world!I installed an add-on scenery for Norway prior to installing Real Environment Extreme (Norway Scenic X). This scenery consisted of *.bgl files only, which I put in the add-on scenery folder. No other files were added, to my knowledge. However, suspecting that this was the cause of my fps problems, I uninstalled the scenery altogether, and removed the entries from the scenery library. Still, the problem remains. Even though I like to think that I know quite a bit about Microsoft Flight Simulator, this one has left me stuck. Why I want to fly in Norway, you ask? Because it’s my home country, and besides: The mountainous scenery makes for some exciting bush flying! Any input or feedback would be much appreciated. August 20, 201015 yr Hi!I just downloaded Normay scenic X and will give it a try! This has happened to me many times, it has just to be one bad design in one bgl and it can slow the sim to 0 FPS. An ex. is the new Paphos nice looking airport but I deleted it. Otherwise I can run complex Aerosoft and flytampas sceneries without problems. There is a switch/flag in fsx.cfg to alert in case of missing textures, but it should not be the case as you wrote there were only bgl's. So there is an exclude folder for norway, where did you installed it?There is a check box to flush the scenery cache in fsx, give it a try..RV See U in the cloud(s) Galleries @FlyEM Flying Ideas
August 20, 201015 yr From the screens, i can see one is outside view and the other are in VC, the fps is also bad in outside view? sometimes some vc cockpits can be hard on the frames.Maybe this is a stupid question, but on the two screens is what i see :( :( 7800X3D / 7900XTX / ROG STRIX B650-A / Corsair Vengeance 32GB 6000mhz, etc etc.

That scenery is the opposite for me, it gives me better FPS than many of my payware airports. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

In Austria we call this "comparing apples with pears". Wolfgang
August 21, 201015 yr Low FPS in Norway? Duh! It's so COLD over there!! :( My guess is either the plane, the plane's VC, or a bad airport.
August 21, 201015 yr You talking about the freeware Paphos by Max Kraus? That scenery is the opposite for me, it gives me better FPS than many of my payware airports.Ok, glad to hear it's not the scenery by itself wich is faultly. In one FSX install the same add.on may ether kill the frames or helps...In many case the FSX.CFG flag ShowMissingTextureAlert=1 in [scenery] helps.RV See U in the cloud(s) Galleries @FlyEM Flying Ideas
August 21, 201015 yr Moderator In many case the FSX.CFG flag ShowMissingTextureAlert=1 in [scenery] helps.Yeah entry in the cfg helps you to find out when a scenery or a/c is missing a texture, but aside from that, thats all it does.I always turn that entry on when I buy a new scenery addon to see if its missing any textures and I am always surprised at how many developers airports have textures missing. I would think that they would use this entry to test a scenery before release. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
