October 12, 201015 yr Commercial Member I think FSGlobal 2010 is about the same as FSGenesis' basic regional DVD sets for most of the world, so you could probably go either way on that. With FSGenesis you do get the 9.6m high resolution mesh for special areas like Yosemite, the Tetons, Hawaii, Grand Canyon, etc, not sure FSGlobal has that. Also FSGenesis has the new 19m individual states and provinces, but those should work with FSGlobal just as well as they work with FSGenesis. If you want some freeware 76m mesh you can download world wide coverage in small chunks here:http://simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htmHow does fs global mesh compare to fs genesis asia and other regions but not USA?I have no ideaUS National Landclass Project is exactly what the name implies; landclass for the US. Read back a few posts if you can't remember what landclass is.Jim

Why is UT USA such a big file compared to National Landclass if they're both just landclass...?JimBut that mesh isn't that accurate, is it? And it's so many downloads. So to portray cities, farms and stuff, get the landclass project and then get GEPro-since GEPro will tell the landclass what textures to use. If i get just the landclass not GEPro, will the landclass put default fs textures into the areas?Sweet. I think ill make a decision: FS Global/FS Genesis, GEPro, FS Genesis US National Landclass/Ultimate Terrain USA (for landclass)

If you get Ultimate terrain you may find that its included landclass is good enough If you do get the US National Landclass then there is a patch at Scenery Solutions to enable both landclasses to be used together, basically Ultimate terrain landclass for citys and urban and FS genesis Landclass for rural.I would guess that the FSgenesis - Ultimate Terrain - GE pro combo is what most use.Throw in REX for sky - clouds - water - Airport textures and you have FS9.75

So Ultimate terrain does have it's own textures? So both National Landclass and UT USA use GEPro textures...Is this correct? Then what's the point of getting both landclasses? Off course, UT USA for cities and stuff, while Landclass project for rural regions, doesn't UT USA have rural regions with it? I'll try get both anyways and mesh.

If you do not mind waiting for DVD's to be posted, then go to Justflight they currently have FSglobal on sale for $14 for the whole world.
October 16, 201015 yr Author Ok, just curious why UT USA is such a big file and national landclass is small since they're both only landclass. . .National landclass project is just rural areas confirm? UT is cities and stuff and also includes lighting and mesh? It changes the landscape too so i was wondering if it was mesh?:http://www.sceneryso...T/GulfCoast.gifhttp://www.sceneryso...rpusChristi.gifhttp://www.sceneryso...rFtMyersDay.gifhttp://www.sceneryso...rFtMyersEve.gifhttp://www.sceneryso.../GlenCanyon.gifI think it's a big file because of the night lighting textures too aye.Any landclass for Asia? I fly there and can't seem to find lots.

I fly there and can't seem to find lots.HelloUT is not Mesh but contains data that completely changes the coastlines and water bodies which is its main job.It also has an accurate road and rail network. and it has 3d night lighting.national landclass project is only a landclass file and they tend to be small. You need to have a clear understanding on what the various products do in the sim so you can spend your money wisely. For a global landclass including Asia check out MYworld2005.http://secure.simmarket.com/myworld2004-world-landclass-2005-edition.phtml
October 17, 201015 yr Author For a global landclass including Asia check out MYworld2005.http://secure.simmar...5-edition.phtml So if i get this-it is world landclass-then i can overwrite with national landclass project or UT USA or any other landclass i want later if i wish to do so?
October 17, 201015 yr So if i get this-it is world landclass-then i can overwrite with national landclass project or UT USA or any other landclass i want later if i wish to do so?HelloLandclass can be layered in the scenery library so you would have a global landclass such as myworld2005 and over it smaller region specific landclasses which are more accurate for that area.Airport sceneries also somtimes include a landclass directory to accurately portray the local surroundings..The So called UT landclass sandwitch patch basically makes the UT landclass transparent except for the citys and urban parts leaving other local landclasses to show through depictiong the rural aspects Forests - fields ect.You can also start making your own landclass files for your local area as you will know it better than someone who is only working from a population density map.
October 17, 201015 yr Author So overall what is the better landclass for USA? National Landclass Project or UT USA?
October 17, 201015 yr So overall what is the better landclass for USA? National Landclass Project or UT USA?HelloI would not feel qualified to comment on which is the most accurate as I only fly in Europeand for the most part in the UK.Maybe someone from the USA may jump in and advise on which is the best, but if you are going to the expense of buying UT USA then you may as well use its landclass as only someone with local knowlege will be able to tell whether a landclass is acurate in any particular area.whatever landclass you install they are all only going to call the relevant GE pro texture for that area type.I would doubt if a global or continental scope landclass could be any better than an approximation of how an area really looks. The advantage of the UT landclass is that it should at least match the accurate road networks present in UT, although having the residential roads enabled can be a bit busy visually.I tend to have only major roads enabled as that is what we are going to be looking for when flying VFR.Just get UT - GE pro - FSgenesis mesh and you are covered, if an area familiar to you looks a bit unrealistic then make a local landclass yourself using the tools available in the library here.
October 22, 201015 yr Author Is it possible in some way to get the fsx mesh into fs9? That would be awesome, seen a few freeware mesh's with high resolution!
