October 7, 201015 yr Hi,Can someone tell me what the TransitionTime and the ChangeTime under the Display section in fsx.cfg do? I just reinstalled FSX after having some problems and now I would like to have the red text messages shown in the upper right corner when you for instance change your zoom level go away faster. I thought these were the settings to adjust to accomplish that, they are both by default set to 4.000000 and I tried changing them to 1.000000 but that didn't do any difference. Thanks in advance for your help guys!

October 7, 201015 yr Author Thanks for your input but actually I already know of that setting but personally prefer to do see what zoom level I'm at, just wishing I could adjust the time the messages display. I did manage to fix this in my last installation of FSX and thought I did it by changing the settings I mentioned but they must be something else. Will report back here if I find out how to do if no one else knows?
October 7, 201015 yr Change the ChangeTime=4 to a lower number, no need to add anything to the cfg. Jay

I never knew you could adjust the time that it takes for the message to disappear. Good to know because I have been using the HideInfotext to get rid of it completely, not knowing that you can adjust the time it takes for it do disappear.Nice to learn something new today. October 7, 201015 yr Commercial Member I think the changetime entry just controls how long the red text message appears on screen when a view is changed. October 7, 201015 yr Author Change the ChangeTime=4 to a lower number, no need to add anything to the cfg.Well, that's what I thought I did but didn't notice any difference but will give it another go.What about the TransitionTime setting, anyone who knows what that one is for?
October 7, 201015 yr Author I now tried again having both entries set to 1 instead of 4 and I belive it's better now (the red text goes away quicker) however as I remember it from my previous FSX installation they disappeared even faster.Well...not a big issue really, back to installing all the rest of my addons. A cumbersome mission to reinstall FSX with all your addons but feels good when you're done and have a really clean FSX installation...at least that is what I tell myself :(
October 7, 201015 yr I now tried again having both entries set to 1 instead of 4 and I belive it's better now (the red text goes away quicker) however as I remember it from my previous FSX installation they disappeared even faster.Have you tried 0.1? Art
October 7, 201015 yr Author No, wasn't aware you can use other than integers but will give it a try and let you know the outcome.
October 8, 201015 yr Author Now I've tried using 0.1 but it didn't do any difference from 1.0 so I guess that might be the lowest value you can set.
October 8, 201015 yr ChangeTime=0.915000gives me about 4 second text display ...ChangeTime=0.15000gives me a little less than a second. For whatever reason, the display actual time is about 4X the value specified in the parameter.ChangeTime=0.000 eliminates any visible display.Transition time is the time spent changing views... but only used when transitioning between two views both of which permit the 'transition' sweep from one to the other - view transition is instantaneous if only one camera has transitions enabled.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
October 8, 201015 yr Author Thanks for your input Loyd!Might do some more experimenting with the ChangeTime value during the weekend and try the values you mention, about a second display time feels just about right.
