October 13, 201015 yr Dear Bill,Yes, been warned. Most definitely been warned. I wrote the gauge code, I made the flight dynamics for the Citation X. I know exactly, and I do mean exactly how tightly integrated the flight dynamics and the gauge code is. I know that when using the FMS, a modified FDE will result in problems. I know that when using the autopilot, a modified FDE will result in problems. I could go on and on... but my response is 100%... been warned.Oh, and no... your system couldn't possibly result in 'inaccurate' flight dynamics versus someone else's system. Math is math... so unless your CPU is mathmatically challenged... FDE will be consistent across systems.Hi Ed,Thanks for the warning. But you didn't address my belief that if one encounters problems with the new flight model one could simply revert back to the original. Is that true? If so, there wouldn't be any damage done would there? And, if the variance between systems couldn't possibly result in inaccurate flight dynamics, the designers didn't get it quite correct in some cases. OF COURSE, I AM NOT IMPLYING YOU WOULD FAIL IN ANY WAY. So, no need to attack me Ed.Best,Bill "A good landing is one you can walk away from. An excellent landing is one you can taxi away from." If so, there wouldn't be any damage done would there? I don't support such actions with my work. If someone modifies the FDE, they're on their own. So, depends on what you consider 'damage' to be.And, if the variance between systems couldn't possibly result in inaccurate flight dynamics, the designers didn't get it quite correct in some cases. Lots of reasons for it... but, there it is in short. Aside from that... like I said... math is math and all CPUs add, subtract, multiply and divide the same. Again you failed to address my question regarding the abiltiy to rollback to the original settings. If so, one can simply undo the change so there is no damage as the value/usefulness is not compromised. And who knows, one just might make it better. As you stated, nobody has been able to release an FDE that is 100%. Lots of reasons for it.... Best,Bill "A good landing is one you can walk away from. Best,BillIf a backup of an original file is made prior to modication then one would be able to restore an original backup and be fine. Experiment if you must but be assured that such modifications cannot be redistributed and all support ceases.:(
