Can the eaglesoft citation x for fsx air cfg be modified in any way? I want it to go faster

lolThe C750 is the fastest bizjet already!

aircraft.cfg files an .air files work together to provide proper Flight Dynamics. The CX2.0 hits the numbers when properly flown. Here is an excerpt from our CX2.0 forum from a real CX Pilot. Very infomative....From flyultimate:I started flying the Citation X (the real airplane) in 1998. Since 1998, I have flown at FL510 9 times. All but one time was with only the crew on board. Each time, my fuel load was less than 4,000 pounds, and the temperature was less than ISA +5. FL510 and the Citation X get along, but not very well. You have to be very careful about transitioning to this altitude, in all jets. If you are heavy, and if ISA is too warm, the airplane will not make FL510. On one maintenance test flight out of Wichita, with three people on board, 3,700 pounds of fuel, a 21,700 pound empty weight, and ISA +6, the highest I could reach was 50,300 feet. She just would not go any higher. And, what Cessna promotes about the Citation X is that she will make FL410 at max takeoff weight straight away. This is a FL390 to FL410 airplane. It likes this altitude range. And, this is where you will obtain your best TAS and Mach. You will get 0.92M almost all of the time with a 2,150 PPH average fuel burn. And, you will be above almost all of the weather with a smooth ride. Common sense will tell you that if the airplane isn't performing very well at a selected altitude, i.e. about to stall or weaving to and fro erratically, that you probably have reached the limit for this particular flight. Additionally, take a look at some performance numbers concerning weight and temperature before asking ATC for a higher altitude.I also am currently flying the Lear 60 as well. And, Lear certified this airplane to FL510. But, any pilot worth their weight will realize that this is a No More Than FL430 airplane. While the manufacturer certified the airplane to FL510, getting there with the short wingspan of this plane can turn into a ride that you won't find at Six Flags.Getting to FL510, with the incredibly beautiful 50 degree swept back wing, is great. The view is splendid, the gound speed is slow, the fuel burn is low, and about the only thing you can hear is the hourmeter clicking away the minutes.

i appreciate your help!!! Where would be a good website to download alot of textures for the citation x? Do you have alot more on your website or is there a third party you can reccomend?

Actually the Gulfstream 650 holds that distinction now, 'hint-hint' ES :( ( I know, I know, GS wont allow it)

Haha, answered your own question didn't you...Gulfstream is of course a non starter for us but there other interesting aircraft to do so we'll keep you posted in the future.:(

Airwrench is a $20 utility that will allow you to make changes to the air file and make the airplane faster if you want. It will also write a new cfg file with the new air file. You can have some fun experimenting with different settings. I have used it to dial some of my favorite airplanes in so they are more real to me.You can find Airwrench here: http://www.mudpond.org/AirWrench_main.htmHope that helps,Bill

Bill, there some air file editors out there as freeware. No need to spend 20 Dollars then. But the main question for me is why someone should buy a fine tuned and well tested flight model like the Eaglesoft Citation X and then goes for rough changes in the air file to make it somehow faster.Of course, feel free to do so, it's your plane. But why pay for realism and then go for fictional values at its best? If you want to go fast, buy the Concorde or use the various military offers in the free and payware sector to stay close to realistic simulated values without self tuned air files.Eaglesoft itself states in their forums that this Citation has max values like this high cruising Alt or the 0.92 speed but is usually operated at much lower ones. So the Cessna marketing is to blame and manual tuned values would destroy the whole package here.See N400QW's post above, the package performs like the real thing.

I don't suggest using Airwrench.. it was designed primarily for props, not jets.Also... changing any parameter in the Citation X's FDE can result in some serious problems... but... you've been warned.

If you "want it to go faster," then it is a near certainty that you are looking at the IAS speed and thinking, "Gee, only 280 knots! I'm going real slow!"At flight levels, IAS doesn't really tell you much except with relation to stall speed. That's why you need to watch the mach value, or at least "true airspeed" or "ground speed."The Eaglesoft Citation X has been very carefully designed to mimic the actual flight characteristics and performance envelope of the real aircraft. It already flies as "fast" as is possible given the constraints of the airframe and engines.

Load the plane with no passengers and 50% fuel, you won't have any trouble getting up high and fast

Dear Ed,We've been warned? That does sound serious. But is any problem created by changing a flight model in FSX really serious? The original values are backed up by Airwrench. Can't we just go back to them if the new values fail to work? I have found Airwrench to be useful for tweaking the flight model for aircraft I have several thousand RW hours in to get it to perform more realistically on my computer/hardware combination (not your Citation X). I suspect the variance that exists between individual systems in the customer base makes it impossible for any developer to deliver the realism as designed in to the FDE without some compromise due to said variance. Best regards,Bill

Dear Bill,Yes, been warned. Most definitely been warned. I wrote the gauge code, I made the flight dynamics for the Citation X. I know exactly, and I do mean exactly how tightly integrated the flight dynamics and the gauge code is. I know that when using the FMS, a modified FDE will result in problems. I know that when using the autopilot, a modified FDE will result in problems. I could go on and on... but my response is 100%... been warned.Oh, and no... your system couldn't possibly result in 'inaccurate' flight dynamics versus someone else's system. Math is math... so unless your CPU is mathmatically challenged... FDE will be consistent across systems.
