I know some people here must use big screen tv's for monitors. I just changed to one and now my fsx will not show. It shows it loading to 100 percent but the screen remains black and I have to use program manager to get out. I tried loading 2004 flight sim and that loaded but I have no sound. Any ideas??????? Both of these programs worked fine previous to this.Don

As a suggestion, try running the sim in windowed mode, then drag the window over to the correct monitor, then switch to fullscreen again with ALT-TAB. I have no idea about the sound tho, there's really no reason why you shouldnt get sound just because a certain monitor has been connected

I got the sound fixed but fsx still won't come up. I will try your suggestion. I guess I don't know how to get in windowed mode and how to start the simDon

Try this: when loaded and finished as you said with 100% and you only see black screen, just hit the ESCAPE key. The choose "continue flight".

Wish I could say it worked but it didn't. Don

It has been a while, but I believe ALT+ENTER is the default key combo for switching to window mode/full screen mode.Normally, I just "do it", and don't bother looking at what keys I press. :)

I think you are right but how do you put it in window mode to START a program?

If you're willing to adjust the FSX.Cfg file directly, it's a quick fix to go from full screen to windowed mode. You will find this section in the FSX.Cfg file;[Main]DisablePreload=1User Objects=Airplane, HelicopterSimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\AirplanesSimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\RotorcraftSimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehiclesSimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\BoatsSimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\AnimalsSimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\MiscMaximized=1If the last line reads "=1" then that is full screen. Change it to "=0" and you will be in windowed mode.

Thanks I will try this. Don

I don't know if this would make a difference but I though I would throw it out there. When you switched to t.v. did you adjust the settings in both Windows Display/Properties/Settings and also in FSX's display settings to match the resolution of what the t.v is? From what I understand as a rule if your tv/monitor for example is 1920 X 1080 then that needs to be set in both your Windows display settings and also in the FSX display settings.Worth a try if you haven't already done it.

Yes I had tried that but it didn't work

It is a common glitch for FSX. There is no real solution for this, at least noone has figured it out. There is a combination of keys pressed which triggers the FSX screen to come back up. Try clicking "windows" button and the the FSX process in the startbar. If you time it correctly it should come up.

Well mesnman I owe you a thank you. I went into the cfg file and checked the setting for maximized and it (for some reason) was set on 2. I changed it to 1 and my flight sim came right up and works great. I don't know why it was on 2 but it was. Anyway thanks to you and everyone else that helped. Don
