I really miss BAO Tower as well. Such a shame it can't be made to work in newer Windows versions. It had the right mix of fun and realism.

It's from the 'old' AVSIM site... a.k.a. VIETSIM... created shortly after "The Internet" came online.

Its live atc with real people flying online as multiplayer.   On Vatsim, you can take up any position (assuming you are qualified) so if you just want to do Tower you can stop your training at that level.

I know what they are as I am active on IVAO myself. My point is: is there really a need for an ATC sim if you can easily 'play' with real people flying semi-real airplane following realistic procedures?!

I would say no because even if you want to simulate high traffic, the Vatsim controller clients have capability to run simulations of many different scenarios.

Yes, because realism isn't always what one is after. Hard to press the P key when you "play" live ATC. BAO Tower was fun and a great game to kill an hour after work to recharge the batteries.
