September 19, 200322 yr Thinking of getting a payware prop airliner. I bought some of the fsgenesis scenery and prolly need something that flies lower and slower than the big heavy stuff I usually use. I saw something a while back about a dash 8 I think. Anyone have some recommendations? Thx!billg
September 20, 200322 yr Doesn't work in FS2004 though. Better wait for the next version if you use that...
September 20, 200322 yr Lago Twin Otter, best low and slow around...Flight1 Cessna 310 or 421 (421 should be updated soon)These are just for starters.FSD Cheyenne. Not low and slow, but could be.FSD Seneca
September 20, 200322 yr Yes, go for the PSS DASH 8!!!!The best comuter propliner, close followed by the Eurowings ATR./Johan
September 20, 200322 yr if you truly want a prop liner, I suggest you hang out at Tom Gibsons Calclassic.com site. There are a good number of Gmax airplanes there that fit the bill. These include DC-6, DC-7's etc along with panels and paint kits and FS2004 FDE's. If I were you I'd start with a nice DC-7 and a Convair 440 and 580. Do a look up in the forums there for a series of posts by Tom containing advice from FSAviator on how to fly these birds. It aint like flying a 737!Great fun though and these were majestic birds in their day.Eric AND
September 20, 200322 yr Why payware? There are some wonderful freeware aircraft available. Just go hunting. Try Milton Shupe's Aero Commander and Dash 7 for a start. There are many others.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
September 20, 200322 yr As far as payware goes, I'll definitely agree that the PSS Dash 8 is good, although it isn't FS 9 compatible yet (and I miss flying it). My other favorite is the Cessna 421C from Flight 1, which I'm also waiting for an upgrade patch for. I definitely recommend them both.KP
September 20, 200322 yr Hi,How about one of the very best freeware props..the YS-11, great 2Dpanel and VC along with a superb sound set, works superbly in FS9 :-)http://www.alliedfsgroup.com/Steve
September 21, 200322 yr Thx for the tips! Got the Milton Shupe's Dash 8. Great aircraft! Wonderful panel, looks good, flies good (!), lot's of liveries, and a cargo varient. The cargo varients are fun because you can take them anywhere, hehe. Thanks again...billg
September 21, 200322 yr Bill,You mean a Dash 7, of course. As far as a Dash 8 is concerned I would highly recommand Oleksiy's Frolov's Dash 8-Q300. So far it only works in FS2002, but for me it is the best turboprop around. Systems are incredibly realistic and it beats the PSS version in that respect.Cheers,Henri
September 21, 200322 yr Author Most props from 19 passenger to 50 passenger in very short commuter flights fly at anywhere from 12K to 17K around here (KMSP) at about 250 knots. (You did say airliner!)Freeware you might consider are the Saab 340B (FFG but get a better panel), Saab 2000, and the 19 passenger Beech 1900D (www.pmstone.com) all in GMax if you get the latest versions. I emulate charter with the 1900D.The Dashes are very popular in Europe and are great for island hopping. The 340B is used here by Northwest Airlink (Mesaba) and also by REX (acronym) in Australia. You get the detail mostly on the low and slow approaches more than enroute, but with mesh and landclass it looks great at all the altitudes (with clear weather). I have the RealScene USA mesh FS2K2 but no landclass.A turbo prop airliner for local legs generally flies at about 12K minimum to keep away from slower GA aircraft and also get the efficiency benefits of the higher altitude.
September 22, 200322 yr Do you have a Saab 340 panel to recommend? I have a nice Northwest Airlink Saab, but don't like the panel.ThanksBlair

September 23, 200322 yr Author Try this one:http://www.psd.avsim.net/panels.htmand also on www.flightsim.com search the library FS2K2 panels under Saab which will come up with several files.Note Igor Surpranov's unfinished and also a preview panel appear on each site.I use FS Panel Studio and made a mix. I use FS2K2.
