November 5, 201015 yr Why would you even ask ?.. the only way to develop this benchmark is to utilize a scenario that 100% of the users can test against. You think it would be a good idea if tech sites just provided benchmarks of video cards that only include test at 800x600x16 with no AA or AF? Hey Wow a 9800GT performs just as good as a the latest and greatest! That of course would be lame.Start pushing the video card with highr res and some filtering and things are very very different - It is the same with FSX, load it up and things change a great deal with regard to system performance, but the problem is as Word Not Allowed mentioned and hence his poll.Since its going to be an uncontrolled comunity effort maybe a better poll would be to see who has what add-ons and find the most common and then build the test for that. The point is It would be a big mistake to think that a benchmark based on just the default sim will provide any type of clear picture, it wont.Cheers!
November 5, 201015 yr Since its going to be an uncontrolled comunity effort maybe a better poll would be to see who has what add-ons and find the most common and then build the test for that.Again, I know that the benchmark with some addons would give much better results, but I already explained what the problem is.Finding which addons people mostly own is not a hard task. Those are easily guessed, PMDG products. Those are mostly widespread addons, the company which, by no doubt, has most sales when it comes to commercial aircraft. But as someone else said, people interested in GA, and there are many, don't buy 744x. I read lots of posts in the last couple of years, and I have a slight feeling how this community ticks...Btw. GA aircraft really are to my knowledge not system-heavy. I know none... maybe someone can correct me.I think right now, a double test is the best...
November 5, 201015 yr Of course default, not all have those addons. Also, most ideal would be to test without any other addons too, to get really comparable results.

November 5, 201015 yr we're going nowhere since nobody seems to be willing to run the benchmarks no matter what so...
November 5, 201015 yr I can see the value of running a bench against a more demanding situation, but think it would be better to pick some freeware addons so it is possible to get more participants. Don't think anyone is going to buy a PMDG 744 just to do a bench. scott s..
November 6, 201015 yr Maybe run three tests. 1. GA no addons. Use this as your base testing ground.2. GA with scenery addons.3. Complex add-on aircraft scenery addons, textures in high density airports. All three would keep us chirping away until pmdg releases the NGX.
November 6, 201015 yr Another issue is the difference between users' FSX installations.I have a huge installation already and am not about to uninstall everything, run a vanilla installation just to test. I know my PC sucks LOL! :( | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
November 6, 201015 yr Ryan, noone is talking about uninstalling anything. It's always possible to deactivate in FSX. It's the easiest procedure and fully harmless.
