November 6, 201015 yr I'm flying the MD-11 for two or three moths actually and I fell in love with that beautiful plane! :wub:Today I was wondering that the cockpit light look like the same either you're using the dome light switch or using the thunderstorm light switch. :Thinking:Can anyone out there tell me where the difference is?Thanks for thatDaniel from Germany Daniel Gravanis - EDDH Many happy landings and always three green!
November 6, 201015 yr Are you using the FS9 or FSX version? The lighting in FSX is superior.Thunderstorm lighting is white, so is dome light but I'm not sure it is the same lamps providing the illumination. Dan Downs KCRP
November 6, 201015 yr The dome light switch just turns the dome light on, the thunderstorm light switch turns on the dome lights as well as all the cockpit flood lights to their brightest position. Allan Burek
November 6, 201015 yr Author @b6679: Thx for that. I'll try it next time. I'm using the FSX plane. Daniel Gravanis - EDDH Many happy landings and always three green!
November 8, 201015 yr Author I tried it a few times, but this happened:I started my flight, waited until the initialization is completed, then i opened the PMDG Panel State Loader and loaded "Tutorial 1" panel state. But when I pressed now the dome button nothing happens...If I turn on the thunderstorm the cockpitlight illuminates but not the panel lettering light. (If you know what I mean with that)Any ideas? :( Daniel Gravanis - EDDH Many happy landings and always three green!
November 8, 201015 yr Daniel, did you have battery or external power on? Aside from the Dome Light and Thunderstorm buttons, there are three dials to regulate the lighting on the flight deck. Also, with the thunderstorm light switch to the on position, the dome light switch is not active. The dome light remains on at all times until the thunderstorm switch is placed to off. Allan Burek
November 9, 201015 yr I'm flying the MD-11 for two or three moths actually and I fell in love with that beautiful plane! :(Me too. I have (almost) all the "other" great and complex products like LDS 767, PMDG 747, DA Fokker, FeelThere ERJ, EMBs and 737, Simcheck A300, QW 757, CS 757, CLS DC-10 etc. etc. but I always come back to the MD-11, it's "the" plane of choice for me (though it's so damned fast on approach and needs lots of runway) :wub:It's somewhat of a shame that this masterpiece isn't honored the way it deserves (e.g. sales figures low) by the sim community :(... November 9, 201015 yr Author Daniel, did you have battery or external power on? Aside from the Dome Light and Thunderstorm buttons, there are three dials to regulate the lighting on the flight deck.external power connected and battery switch already on. Thx for advice with the dials, I found out that one by myself before. But another question on the dials: every dial is made of two knobs, right? One for floodlight and one for integral panel lightning?!?! Thunderstorm lighting will not affect integral panel lighting. Just the floodlights. Also, with the thunderstorm light switch to the on position, the dome light switch is not active. The dome light remains on at all times until the thunderstorm switch is placed to off.I understand the thing with the integral panel lightning now. :blush:I tried the dome light button before I switched on thunderstorm... November 10, 201015 yr The thunderstorm switch was designed to reduce the effects of flash blindness from lightning to pilots. By illuminating the floodlighting and dome lights, it reduces the effect that could otherwise be severe in a dark flightdeck at night...hence the thunderstorm name.Matt LaMay Matt L.
