Ryan, you may wanna take a look at this : Rick Piper's recent HS748 updateIn that case he might be commencing a major redesigning of his older VC, with now 3d switches with some that actually work. Dunno if there's anything up for FSX down there though....the only thing he made for FSX was this Foxbat created for Horizon Sim's customers: Horizon Simulations' download pageand this BAC Strikemaster 167 Rick Piper's BAC Strikemaster for FSX on Simviation.Dave.

The onlt thing I saw was his FS9 model ported over to fsx which is available. I forget the web address where is is actually there for downloading off hand. His site listed by Dave above has the files removed now for updating. Hopefully he will finish a native model soon. His work is really nice. Warm regards, Jeff

It has been a long time since I flew the HS748 in FSX. It was one of the first aircraft I had when FSX was first released. I uninstalled FSX, reinstalled FSX, uninstalled FSX and reinstalled FSX since then. I know the portover worked well pre-SP1. I have not tried it with Acceleration and unfortunately, I don't have a backup that 4 year old install.

I once tested the HS748 in FSX+SP2, and all I got was this black VC with the gauges being the only things that appear. I just reinstalled FSX approx. 7 months ago, and since then I've never actually tested Rick's 748 or any of his other aircraft that he has created for both FS2002 and FS9. The only aircraft from RP that I've tested so far was his very own Gloster Meteor T7 Mk.1. Sure, it looked irksome and less detailed than Alphasim's Meteor T7 for today's standards, as it was then created wit FSDS2.0, but I really enjoyed it and porting over was really a breeze, it took me less than 5 minutes to port. Besides, the easy factor behind this easy portover, is that the fact that 99% gauges are XML and are compatible with FSX. One gauge however, was FS98-written, of which I have replaced with the starter gauge from the CFS2 Hurricane Mk.I. I'll be testing the HS748 this weekend, so I expect everything to run as smooth as possible with FSX+SP2. Accel/Gold, dunno, probably requires additional remapping in FSDS. In addition, I'd like to pin your attention to these classic FSDS2 British aircraft, also from Rick Piper himself: Rick's VanguardRick's Dart HeraldRick's ViscountNow here's the problem with Saveio Maurri's panels, as well as Fraser McKay's Viscount panel that I've used with all three of Rick's props. I've checked the Herald Dart and Vanguard panels from Maurri, and McKay's XML-gauged Viscount panel. When I tested Rick's Viscount and Vanguard along with both panels, the planes simply refuse to appear, even with the fact that XML and .cab gauges all work in FSX. I've even encountered this with Mike Stone's F27 with McKay's very own F27-XML panel. What's going on? Are these gauges hard-coded into FS9 so that they won't work with FSX?Dave.

  • 3 years later...

I have installed Rick's portover version and the HS7v6_FSX which I understand is part of the files I needed.

The plane seems to be ok but I have not been able to get it to work properly. I can't get the Inverters to work.

This means lack of power for some intruments and the engine starters.

I wonder if anyone out there has encountered this problem AND found the solution...

If I Ctl-E- start the engines, they do start but they do not perform properly. Another thing. I did go by the checklist..
