November 12, 201015 yr AS the main question says, what is the base model going to be? the 500?Patrick Boynton
November 12, 201015 yr Well PMDG arent doing the -500, its the -600/700/800 and -900.PMDG I believe dont do what Captain Sim do with a "base" model but release it all in one. Ill let the PMDG team confirm this.
November 12, 201015 yr The 737NG is the -600/-700/-800/-900. CS is doing the 737-100/-200. I get a free copy!! PMDG doesn't usually sell the product in models. The 747X had -400/-400F. The old 737NG was in 2 different model packages. 737-600/-700, and 737-800/-900. I think that is the only time they have done that. Just to make it clear. Alexander Brinson
November 12, 201015 yr Don't forget about the extentions for the B744. That's the B748 and this cargo-whale-thing models.BUT, as far as I remember from the posts, they release the 600, 700, 800 and 900. But don't shoot me if I'm wrong...Dion Mollert
November 12, 201015 yr Also, all the aircraft will be their own model. Not just visual add-ons like the DreamLifter or the -8. November 13, 201015 yr I am not so sure about the BBJ. While I would be eternally grateful to them if they did it. I am just going to do a BBJ re-paint for one of the other models, and just never go back in the cabin. I never venture back there on any of the models I have now anyway. So to me as long as I have the NGX I can re-paint it into anything I want it to be from a C-40 to a BBJ. As said above though all the models that they are doing will be included with the released aircraft. They have never done modular releases. November 13, 201015 yr 1. I think they intend to have more than one model as the "base" with a couple different choices. Maybe that's why the external pictures are taking so long. Might make liveries difficult to manage, too.2. I thought the BBJ was a model (say the -6, but I don't know), that was fitted as a business jet. I didn't think it was a completely separate plane. Clarification/correction on this point is welcome. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
November 13, 201015 yr 2. I thought the BBJ was a model (say the -6, but I don't know), that was fitted as a business jet. I didn't think it was a completely separate plane. Clarification/correction on this point is welcome. The 737 BBJ is primarily based on a -700 airframe, with winglets and additional fuel tanks to increase the range. The interior, of course, is highly customized to the exact specifications of each individual customer. I can imagine that there are some particularly luxurious interior setups that probably cost almost as much as the base aircraft!Jim Barrett Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. November 13, 201015 yr There is also the BBJ2 and BBJ3. For me, a BBJ appropriate livery would be enough for me to live my fantasy of owning my own 737, but a seperate BBJ model with larger fuel tanks would be most welcome. And just to add, I do believe PMDG is to do a 900ER, as the 737-900 is no longer in production. A bit of a mistake by Boeing when they forgot to add the extra doors ,making it larger yet unable to carry more passengers than the 800. November 13, 201015 yr The thing with the BBJ is that its performance is different than the normal 737ngs. The range is one of the differences, the BBJ has a much longer range than the pax versions
November 13, 201015 yr The thing with the BBJ is that its performance is different than the normal 737ngs. The range is one of the differences, the BBJ has a much longer range than the pax versionsBut that is due to the extra tanks (if so ordered) and the fact you are not lugging around 120 passengers and their luggage. Have a model with the extra tanks and in the load manager you just keep the pax load down and keep the cargo to where it makes sense, and you should see the longer range.
