November 13, 201015 yr Hi all-What causes these jagged edges that follow my aircraft across the terrain? Thanks,Mark
November 13, 201015 yr Radius.Set it to max in FSX, if problem persists then open fsx.cfg, and increase:LOD_RADIUS=7.500000 (my personal), you can test what you like the best and what doesn't use too much memory (above 8.5 is going to cause OOMs often)

November 14, 201015 yr As Word Not Allowed indicates, it is probably the Level of Detail Radius. For more information on how it works, please see the following Avsim tutorial:An Explanation of the "Blurrieshttp://forum.avsim.net/tutorials/article/15-an-explanation-of-the-blurries/Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
November 14, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hi guys, throwing my hat into the ring too with a bet it's a replacement detail1.bmp, the infamous semi-transparent "grass" texture overlay. If the issue goes away by unchecking "Land Detail Textures" in the FSX Settings Display menu I win :( Cheers, Holger
November 14, 201015 yr Author No difference on LOD set to 7.500000Hmmmmmm...No-just affinity mask and bufferpools=0 in fsx.cfg which has worked great on my system. November 14, 201015 yr Hi all-What causes these jagged edges that follow my aircraft across the terrain? Thanks,MarkWhat it IS is the border between two different resolutions of scenery. Some junctions are more distinct than others - perhaps because of the particular scenery tiles themselves (of that particular type) or the various user settings. But that is the shape of the borders between adjacent resolutions of every scale.Attached images show each level of resolution around aircraft in different color - they all have the same shape: "crude" circular shapes made from blocks... the scenery range 'rings'. And the scenery rings follow the aircraft.LOD Radius of 4.5 means each range is 9 units wide at each scale.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

As our infamous Governor here in Californie said in one of his pre-gubernatorial classic films, Predator, "What I gadda do?"Mark
November 14, 201015 yr Thanks, Word Not Allowed. Your "LOD_RADIUS=7.500000 " advice helped me out. Alexander Alonso
November 14, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hi Mark,if you like the current "grass" texture you can leave it as is and just check/uncheck "land detail textures" during a flight as desired. It doesn't require a scenery refresh so the change is instantaneous.Reverting to default would require to hunt down the original "detail1.bmp", which might be in \Scenery\World\texture as a backup (.OFF, .BAK, etc.) or stored somewhere else. The FSX original is dated 7/26/2006.A third option is to look for other "grass" texture replacements in the online file libraries and try to find one that doesn't darken the area around the user aircraft as much.Cheers, Holger

I'm currently on a flight from KLAS to KSEA and all is weel so far. The final test will be coming into KSEA.Thanks for your help,Mark
